Apple Releases Updated AirPods Beta Firmware With iOS 27 Features

Apple today released updated beta firmware for the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2. The firmware is limited to developers at the current time, and it has a build number of 9A5304b.

In iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate, Apple is adding a new AirPods interface and support for custom EQ. AirPods are also compatible with the new Siri AI.

With iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe, Apple added a beta firmware update installation option that's available from the AirPods settings interface when the AirPods are connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, which facilitates beta testing.

Developers can use the beta option to turn on beta downloads.

So still as inaccurate as ever for countries like Australia because Apple refuse to use a local Bureau of Meteorology to source weather…

anybody getting constant head gesture notifications? anytime you move your head sideways or up/down even when no notifications or messages come in

Apple needs to change the update process for AirPods. I don’t know why they can’t just add an option to immediately push an update and then have a status bar showing the update process. The current process is just ridiculous. Plug your AirPods case into power, make sure they are connected to your phone, make sure case is near your phone, and then blindly wait 10-30 minutes for the update to happen.

Here here! I'm just over here holding my breath praying to god the ability to update AppleTVs remotely from the Home app (like HomePods) remains in the final release. I've got 3x 4Ks and 1x HD and even though they're set to "auto update" they will either wait weeks to update, or not update at all unless run manually. My ritual of running from room to room each Fall on the "update spree" is getting old lol.
 
So my AirPods Pro 2 updated to 9A304B but for a little bit my Airpods Max 2 showed 144.19.2 before showing 9A304B. Did anyone else see this? I’m using iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Beats had an app. Apple killed it when they bought them.

Yeah, this is so weird and non-Apple to have updates that can happen and have no user input to request or delay them. Coupled with the firmware on the APP and the case being released as a set, but apparently have so little to do with each other that they are out of sync (for me) more often than not. Been plugged into power on my Mac since yesterday, still no change.
 
Took a while but finally updated, case and buds must’ve updated at the same time unlike first beta where buds updated but case took forever
