The Vision Pro should be perfectly usable by the deaf, you think? During the setup of the face scan, it gives audible instructions. Does it also display written instructions on the outside display at the same time?

Apple fine tuning after the YouTube reviews

That's not how software or hardware development works at these big companies. What we receive in the market place is already weeks behind where Apple is. It must be strange for them to already be focused on the next big release, and releasing something that's in their rear-view mirror.

My favorite is when any kind of update comes out (you especially see it with firmware updates) people scream about how "back in the old days you didn't need updates!"

Uh, yea ya did you just didn't know about it because consumers were stuck with whatever version they bought, bugs and all. Issues were updated on later product runs.
My favourite is when an update comes out and the first 100 posts say 'people are gonna over-react because they are idiots but I know best... this is totally normal... let me explain why all these non-existent complainers are all idiots'.

To be expected these days.... I imagine some of the units have been waiting around a while in transit/storage.

It's a pity about the reported battery runtime... lets hope they tier it in a second or third gen... so that those of us just wanting a screen for watching moviesand TV can buy a cut down version that just plugs straight into Apple TV or Mac.
Battery runtime is reported to be about 30 minutes above what Apple announced with the product. More like 2.5 hours of general computing and 3 hours of video playback. That's as good or better than other AR/VR headsets.

And like a laptop, you also have the option to plug it into a wall socket.

WWDCs from now on will probably become longer than ever, as visionOS is certainly going to receive a lot of major updates in its first few years of existence. I hope they won't cut time for other OSes like macOS, which already doesn't get that much attention.
Don't worry. The other OSs will still get a lot of love. They'll get updates to help them work more seamlessly with VisionOS.

There are already complainers in this thread, and in the past there are plenty that complained so they definitely exist.

Looking at the reviews there are some visual indications when setting up your digital persona (no text, more like arrows). I don't know if there are existing accessibility features built in for that.

*plug the battery into a wall socket
have you watched any of the unboxing videos? it comes with a brick and cord that you plug the battery into a power source. so if you are on a plane or sitting at home you can have unlimited power.

Slightly off-topic but I got the original M1 Mac Mini and it came in the box with macOS 11.0 installed. There was of course a point release already available, but I thought it was pretty cool. I was slightly reluctant to upgrade. Still have the screenshot.

On-topic, separate post. Has anyone read Snow Crash? Reading that it fixes a WebKit vulnerability makes me imagine what a ransomware scare screen would look like in VR. Keep this thing patched, nobody wants what feels like their whole world to get hacked.

Bet it's fairly comprehensive as far as minor tweaks from initial feedback. I still find it odd that Apple doesn't have VisionOS mentioned on their News and Updates - Software Releases - Apple Developer yet?

Hoping they’re saving that for breaking the OSes out into separate feeds.

Expect several patches to come out quickly after Feb 2 as they fix bugs that are revealed by a wider audience.

The one thing i want to know is if Vision Safari has a favorites bar. I hate browsers that don’t, the number one reason I will only use Safari on iPad since I have yet to find any iPad browser that has one.

Sure. My point was that you can't plug avp to the socket: you connect it to the battery, then connect the battery to the socket.

Great, so we get to do a software update as a part of the setup process.

Not uncommon. Happens all the time with new Apple products, particularly those manufactured long before launch date as they build up inventory.

Expecting to see a lot of updates for Vision Pro across the year. Many bug fixing updates might be required.

It happens a lot with many products and even Apps too.... many say misc bugs and optimisations without stating what they are. Lots of updates optimise efficiency and battery runtime too without stating so.
Of course, but that doesn't make it OK. A change log isn't a problem to include. They have it available, just make it public.

My main complaint is when they release an update, then a few days later urge everyone to do the update because of some huge security issue, like we're the problem for not doing the update immediately...but why would we when they made no claim of what the update fixed?

we are expecting to see visionOS 2 with new features at WWDC in June.
Ummmm, I don't think so

This product is JUST releasing; I just don't see how we're going to see version 2 of visionOS already this summer

I think this won't be until next year

Back in the day, we didn't have the convenience of the Internet to download updates. Products were tested and tested until it was bullet proof before the product was released.
