Apple Releases visionOS 2.3.1

Apple today released visionOS 2.3.1, a minor update to the visionOS 2 operating system that came out in September. visionOS 2.3.1 comes two weeks after the launch of visionOS 2.3, and more than a year after the release of the Vision Pro headset.

visionOS 2.3 can be downloaded on all Vision Pro headsets by navigating to the Settings app, selecting the General section, and choosing the Software Update option.

To install an update, the Vision Pro headset needs to be removed, and there is a software progress bar available on the front EyeSight display.

According to Apple's release notes, visionOS 2.3 includes security updates, and the software is recommended for all users.

There's a major memory-leak in visionOS that slows the whole OS down after an indeterminate amount of use. Force quitting apps helps but restart needed to fully resolve.

I think it must be something to do with how it doesn't seem to ever freeze apps like padOS and iOS does.

There's no way they don't know about it though so could be a hardware issue.

I go through the eye setup every time I use it just to ensure the best clarity and have no issues, perhaps it could help with your eye strain.

Being able to force quit by simultaneously holding two buttons on crown is a win.

When you dictate text it sometimes doubles up what you’ve said. I accepted it as a bug at the beginning, but the fact it still happens 12 months later is a bit crazy.

FWIW though, I love it. If you’re thinking of getting one, I highly recommend it.

Apple is Cooked.

Apple recently (early Feb.) killed its own Apple glasses. Why? Bc they got their butts kicked by Meta/Ray Ban, retail $300.

I tried one on the other day, and could not believe how INNOVATIVE they are. I’ve been frustrated for several years by the incrementalism of Apple, but now I have realized that Innovation is dead at the company.

Apple has falled far behind and has nothing to offer that is comparable: the Ray Bans, not these stupid over priced goggles Apple is still pushing, are the future. So, they had to kill off their glasses because it was…embarassing.

All Apple has to do to get me to buy one of these is update the software to give an option to not turn off my physical (drawing) monitor when using Mac virtual display.
