Where is this new setting found?

This the sound one? To me it looks like it’s just on. In Sounds & Haptics, right under the Silent Mode toggle it says “Silent mode will not mute alarms and timers while the Apple Watch is charging.” So, just looks like it’s gotta be charging, so no sleep tracking.

It's on your Apple Watch.
1. Open Sleep App on the Apple Watch.
2. Scroll down to the bottom (or rotate the dial until you get to the bottom screen).
3. Click on "Wake Up"
4. Scroll down to "Sound & Haptics" and click on it.
5. There you will find "Break Through Silence". Toggle the switch to "ON"

Installed it on my Series 7, and so far everything seems to be working fine, but I’ll be sure to put it through its paces and let you know if anything went awry.

I also wanted to check which dog breed my rank turned into, I must confess. 😂

Apple today released watchOS 11.4, the fourth major update to the operating system that runs on the Apple Watch. watchOS 11.4 is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 6 and later, all Apple Watch Ultra models, and the Apple Watch SE 2.

watchOS 11.4 can be downloaded on a connected iPhone by opening up the Apple Watch app and going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery and it needs to be placed on a charger.

With watchOS 11.4, Apple has added an option for a Sleep Wake Up alarm to break through Silent Mode, so you can have your Apple Watch make a sound in addition to haptic tapping when a morning alarm goes off. There's also support for Matter-compatible robot vacuum cleaners in the Home app.

More of the features available in watchOS 11 can be found in our watchOS 11 roundup.

Gee, does it not already do this? The alarm on my watch makes a sound every morning. The I promptly say screw it and hit the snooze button.

This function is related to Sleep focus mode not the alarm function via the clock. Two different settings.

My Series 7 Watch, and the Watch app on my iPhone, are still showing my Watch as up-to-date on build 22T250. Different build for an "older" Watch?

If you have the beta update feature on, you need to turn the beta update off in order to get the latest (22T251) update.

Thanks, that did the trick. This also explains why the latest release version of macOS Sequoia 15.4 didn't install on my M1 Macbook Pro, and TVOS on my Apple TV 4K, and iPadOS on my iPad Air 3, but they are now that I've turned off their beta update option. Odd that I didn't have to do this on my iPhone.

The alarm update was much needed. Used to miss some alarms in the past. Will not be updating my Series 10 right away.

I think the big size is related to the enormous list of security fixes. My guess is, that they had to touch many aspects of the OS. I never saw so big list of security fixes (it's the same on iOS 18.4)

I had read on Mastodon that one of the security fixes is for someone being able to hack an Apple Watch somehow thru using the subtitles/text from songs in the Music app? Weird stuff like that.

Since updating, my watch faces do not show the little status symbols in the center top anymore (e.g., workout, timer). The symbol was a convenient way to be reminded what is running in the background, and as a shortcut to the background process by tapping on it. Anyone else with this issue?

have you rebooted your AW?
don't see that issue on my AWU2

Yup. Seems to work for a bit if I power-cycle the watch. I also plan to clear my calibration and re-do it on an outdoor walk today. If that does not fix it, then I shall just have to work around it until they (hopefully) fix it in 11.5.

But I always have sleep focus on when I go to bed. The alarm rings through on the watch just fine. What am I missing? The issue with sleep focus is if I decide to get up 1 before the alarm, sleep focus must be turned off manually.

Is your "Alarm Options" in your Sleep Focus turned on? Or are you using the alarm in the Clock App?

This relates to using the Alarm Options in the Health App under "Sleep Schedule" setting.

I have the alarm set in the alarm clock. When I look at Sleep Focus, it shows my Schedule. In my set-up it has a wind down set to 9:45 PM and wake-up set to 5:30 AM.

I am missing something in your comments. Please provide additional explanation.

Thank you again for your help.

There is a separate "Alarm" in the Sleep App on the Apple Watch.
Sleep App --> scroll all the way down and tap on "Wake Up" --> scroll down to "Full Schedule" and tap on "Wake Up" --> "Alarm" toggle "on" tap on "Sound & Haptics" there you will find "Break Through Silent Mode". Set this to "on".

This is NOT part of the Clock App.

Sure would be nice if I can disable the damm widgets completely and just run my dandy watch face and use the action button plus drop down apps menu when I damm feel like it and want to... Here’s Praying. Especially can’t stand when the widget window pops up while I’m doing a workout running technical trails and have to look at the watch instead of where my feet’s are flying...

3:36?!? Why is that showing now?!? I suppose at least it’s got the date right. It is the 4th, right? Not sure if Siri’s still able to tell us the day.
