This is all I need to hear to convince me to wait longer. I want one really bad, but I hear that there are so many improvements that are needed that I have to wait until 2nd gen. Just hope it's not a 2 year thing!

At this point, wait. It definitely has performance issues that will be addressed. I can't say I'm disappointed with my purchase, especially if the bands will work with the next gen.

You're going to have to show me where I said I don't like his avatar. When you choose your outward representation on a Mac forum to be a nod to Microsoft and the person purports to live where Microsoft is headquartered, I question whether the feedback is objective. That's the point.

Well, being an ex-Microsoft employee myself, I know that he has to reveal if he works for Microsoft or can find himself in deep crap posting opinions on forums. I think he's just a fan, however. He did once accuse me of not knowing what I was talking about when referencing a product from the very company I was working for when I had insider knowledge.

Maybe don't be immature about it? I like Microsoft too, they make a really nice OS and fitness tracker. Maybe if avatars are a big thing for you then disable them using adblock, then you can judge people entirely on the content of their posts.

But like that poster I too would like the Apple Watch to not hang as much as it does. Maybe it needs further optimisation, maybe Apple need to scale back some tech to ensure a smoother operation, or maybe we'll have to wait for the next generation of Apple Watch?

My watch is pretty unusable at the gym, as soon as i sweat I can't use it at all! I'm also interested in seeing how the heart rate monitor is improved, i'm guessing this will also negatively impact battery life.

They update the Watch OS and neglected to include/ overlook a super simple, frustrating thing.... a delete all messages option for the apple watch. That was a feature on my pager in the early 1990s. Why would they not include a "delete ALL messages" option for the Apple Watch?? Currently the only way to delete all messages is to un-pair the device, then pair it again to my iPhone. (This may not seem like a big deal, but if you have a lot of different calls/ texts coming in from various numbers) you can't just delete all. You have to swipe each and every number that has called you and delete the conversation manually. How about a Delete all conversations option? It would save SO much time.

Day 1 buyer here - and I agree with Bill Gates over there. Speed is my #1 complaint with the watch, particularly when doing several things like exercise tracking and listening to music. Reminds me of my old iPhone 3G after (I think) the iOS 4 update.

By messages, do you mean notifications? If so, you can force touch on one to delete them all.

It's so true. I've had it since the day after it came out and it has been terribly slow. I want to be productive on it, but it feels like the animations take up so much of the time to process anything.

It's like the watch needs to process something so it does a little fade up animation until the thing is ready. Takes 1-2 seconds per click to have it do anything, but it adds up fast when you're trying to get something done. It's much faster to pull out the ol' iPhone.

Interesting. My stride may be different - I generally run slower outside. How many times did you calibrate yours with an outdoor run?

On a related note, they could also just allow you to calibrate it by manually adjusting your distance after the fact (as other run trackers do)......

The treadmill was a very recent purchase, and I probably had 8 or 10 runs in where I used both the watch and the phone.

My indoor treadmill runs are usually about 10% less than what the treadmill says, while my outdoor runs are spot on with the Nike Running app. I've begun to chalk this up to either my stride is a bit different or the treadmill is wrong.

I just updated to 2.2 and am about to go hit up the treadmill, so we'll see what happens.

I'm trying to figure out why I need directions to work and Home. If you don't know your way there, maybe you need to be unemployed or homeless.

I just moved to a new city, and I regularly ask Siri to "take me home" until I get to a street I recognize.

I agree with you for the most part. You're assuming that you're always going to either location from places you know though.

In that case there is no use for maps at all.

Sometimes you may just need a nudge due to an accident on main route or whatever. In that case it's a lot faster and safer to press one button. Been there.

My watch is plenty fast and accurate. I wear it daily and workout with it on and even shower with it. Love it!

Put a couple apps on it (besides the stock apps) and then report back to us, please....

I agree with others. All this wait and a lack luster update.
When you MUTE / DND a group thread on your phone, you still get constant notifications on the watch. Day one issue, still not addressed/fixed. Cmon!

No, I have the notifications on also, but the actual message content. So for example if "Bob" , "Ted" and "John" all texted me today, I would go to the messages icon on the Apple Watch, see the messages waiting, then instead of delete all today's messages, it makes me delete all of Bob's messages, then Ted's, then John's messages seperately, instead of delete all the messages from today (or ALL).

I'm in that situation all the time since I am always going new places and meeting new people. I can usually figure out the general direction to the main road I want to get to , but it's nice to be told the way along with an estimate of how long it will take to get there.

Sometimes I only use the directions until I get to a location that I'm familiar with and then close the maps app as it is no longer needed.

Do you consider a situation when you need to get to home/office ASAP from unfamiliar location? I use the same feature in Waze all the time

Sounds like you don't get out much and only drive from your home to work and then from work to home. In that case I would agree with you that if you need that all the time you should be unemployed or homeless. However, if you are exploring a new area and need to get back home this would come in quite handy or if you find a new place to go to lunch getting directions back to work would be nice.

I just moved to a new city with a lot of one way and disconnected streets, using GPS is invaluable until I learn shortcuts from point A to point B.

Well after 60 minutes of updating, it froze on its 2nd spin around the circle about 10 "minutes" from finishing. Hard restarted multiple times, each time it boots up and stops going around the circle in the same place. Reservation made at the :apple: Store.:(

UPDATE...so I left it on my wrist in the stuck position. I looked down about 30 minutes later and it was booted up back to normal. Even without my issue, the update would've taken a full hour. Hopefully they get this update process down to a reasonable time as they have done over the years with iOS updates.

My Apple Watch feels a lot snappier after updating to 2.2. Not just saying that either. Apps are launching quicker and animations are smoother.

I agree! It scrolls more smoothly and things like opening the Settings app are noticeably faster. No joke.

I do note that immediately after the update, things were stuttery and laggy for a few minutes. No doubt some internal rearranging and optimizing was going on. After that was past, smooth as butter.

I had walked away from my desk for awhile while mine was updating. When I came back it was done, so I put it back on. It probably had several minutes to settle in before I put it back on. In wearing it and heavily using it today, I am still noticing much better performance and speed. I've had it on for 8 hours and my battery is at 87%.
