Dark sky 'soon!' And sure enough by the time I'd walked the 15 minutes to the car it started raining...
The Samsung calendar event is a work meeting before anyone cracks the wise one about how has the watch not blown up having that on the screen...
Same here. I updated my wife's sport watch, and she has been running and all sorts still has 60% left. I have been relatively inactive, and have already had to recharge my SS watch and its back down to 25 % again. My battery life is horrendous after update. Put it on at 8 am and it's already dead. Even went thru reserve power completely.
Not sure what to do...
I did the update early this morning and was using the watch by 10. It's now at 74% which is better than previous experiences. My battery life is horrendous after update. Put it on at 8 am and it's already dead. Even went thru reserve power completely.

Loves watchOS 2! Native games like Space Invaders are cool when they run native and supports Digital Crown. Played it on Android Wear before. https://itunes.apple.com/app/id986212363
Try rebooting both. Battery life is fine here, 96% after 4 hours on.My battery life is horrible too! Burning through 10-25% an hour.
'Now Playing' does not work anymore either. This is not good.
Apple better have a fix soon!
I had troubles installing yesterday too... the download took about 50 minutes or so, then it got stuck at "verifying" for over an hour.
I closed the Apple Watch app, and opened it again, then it proceeded to tell me I was uptodate on WatchOS 1.01.
Clicked away and back on Software update I again had option to Download and Install.
It went much quicker this time, (as it didn't need to download), verifying passed after a few minutes (again, much quicker!) and then it installed correctly to the watch (which again took some time).
Not as smooth as I was expecting/hoping.
i turned the raise to activate off a long time ago and my battery is never below 50% at the end of the day even nowI did the update early this morning and was using the watch by 10. It's now at 74% which is better than previous experiences.
I'm seeing the battery drain quickly as well :-/
Edit: 3% since replying.
I wonder if it was somehow related to iOS 9, or something on the iPhone side anyway. I got the crazy battery drain before I updated to watchOS 2 (I updated later in the day). It's fine now... except for my constant fiddling with watch faces and complications.Battery life seems back to normal after a full charge last night. Tried the unpair/pair and battery was still draining horribly. Not sure why things are back to normal, but I'm happy.
All,
I am a Beta Developer and have been on the Beta version since they came out on WatchOS. I installed the original GM for OS 2 and was extremely happy with it. So much that I didnt bother to update to the new Public OS2 with a different, newer build. Out of stupidity, I decided to give it a whirl on Monday night. Tuesday, watch dead by 11am... Not happy. Thought it was a fluke. Removed the Beta profile, restarted after a small charge... Draining like crazy.. NOT HAPPY. I finally did what I know is the first step in any software test, I performed an erase and install yesterday evening.
I erased all contents and settings, but instead of running it with no restore from backup, I took a chance and restored it from my backup that was performed only an hour before my erase and install. I am VERY happy to say that last night after using it for about 4 hours off the charger, after charing to 100%, I only lost 7% battery, down to 93%!
Today, I have lost 8% after 5 hours and 15 minutes. Right on par with the previous GM.
I will tell you, for all those that are having issues- Go to your watch App, General> Reset> Erase all Contents and Settings. Upon restart, restore from your backup and see if it made a difference. It did for me, and my bet is, it will for most of you.
Good luck![]()

I think the majority of people are trying to share their experiences to help others sort out what may be issues so that we all can update our watches with the minimum of frustration.

Erase and install was suggested as a last resort, after evidence there is truly a problem. Like I stated in the post, many steps were performed to try to eliminate the need to erase and install. On the Apple Watch, it is a breeze to erase and install, and you lose nothing but maybe 20 minutes of time. Indexing and such was not, and is not an issue, on the Apple Watch. As stated, the watch sat all night the previous night (Monday) on the charger. I am pretty certain that during that 9 hours, and the 5 hours it took the Watch to drain its battery, all update functions would have completed. As an Apple Employee, I followed the typical protocols we use when Beta testing hardware and software. I simply gave my real world scenario and offered it to those users having similar issues to try. It solved my problem easily and quickly. Thanks for your information and additional thoughtsMaybe this can be fixed without doing anything.
I don't suggest people erasing their devices just because they become slower and power hungry right after an update. Just let the indexing or whatever complete and the battery life will be back to normal very soon. Too much trouble to an average user.
For me, updating iOS devices and the Apple Watch cannot be simpler:
1) wait for 24 hrs after release to avoid networking issues during an update
2) backup the device to iCloud
3) Update it OTA on the device. Not restoring, and never use iTunes - Source of many troubles (e.g. Slide to Upgrade?)
4) Be patient and don't do anything stupid.
If and only if anything bad happens during the update, I will restore it using the latest iCloud backup.
I think that it's a placebo effect which makes you feel better by erasing all content every time after an update.
Did you restart the watch and the phone, and quit the Apple Watch App out from multitasking? Did you resolve this issue yet?My iPhone still says watchOS 1.0.1. Any clue why I am not receiving the update?
I restarted watch and phone and still says software up to date ios1.0.1Was getting message in software that i was on latest version (1.0.1) restarting the watch seemed to remedy it.
