Apple today released watchOS 6.1.3, the fifth update to the watchOS 6 operating system designed to run on modern Apple Watch models. watchOS 6.1.3 comes three weeks after the release of watchOS 6.1.2.

watchOS 6.1.3 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update.

To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the iPhone.

The watchOS 6.1.3 update includes important bug fixes, addressing an issue that could prevent the irregular heart rhythm notification feature from working properly for Apple Watch owners in Iceland.

Apple has also released watchOS 5.3.5 for Apple Watch models not able to run watchOS 6 due to the use of an older iPhone.

no way I'm updating for this, 6.1.2 has been smooth on my series 4 paired with my XR on 13.3 and battery life is fine after turning off app background refresh and all the active Siri listening features

I approach updates incredibly skeptically, especially when the bug fixes aren't of interest

My cellular plan has "unlimited Data", and as these iOS updates are not horrendously large - I wish we could opt out of the manditory Wi-Fi download requirement.
You cannot even opt out when updating your phone. You may have an unlimited data plan but Apple needs to "protect" those who don't and may be too dim to manage their data. A true nanny state operation.

Do you really know what you are talking about? if you want to turn off autoupdates, then just do it already

you could research a subject before you get all upset over it. Go to watch app on your phone, general, software update, and click automatic updates to off. bazinga, I saved the world again!

So you are saying that I can update iOS on my phone (my only Apple device) using only my mobile data? That's not what I read. Please fill me in.

Strangely specific geographical bug

Consumers rarely appreciate the sheer complexities of the technology packed into our devices, especially when you get into timezones, altitude, environmental differences.... the list goes on and on, and Apple is responsible for making sure their tech works equally with all of these factors. It's super complicated, and they do an outstanding job. We can not really complain when they make a misstep.

Can this happen?

Watch malfunctions, notifies me that I have a problem, I head to the ER, I find out everything is fine, and I'm stuck paying a massive bill.

I understand about data usage but for me its the app updates themselves... Not the core iOS/Watch updates. Despite most I still miss iTunes, I would perform all app updates and then when significant or time to backup did over my Mac so wouldn't impact data usage. As a family of 7 having to plug in your device synch an update your apps. Now have to perform step-step across multiple devices... sighso_Oo_Oo_O
