Apple today released watchOS 8.0.1, a minor update to the watchOS 8 operating system that was first released in September. watchOS 8.0.1 comes three weeks after the launch of watchOS 8.

‌‌watchOS ‌8 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the ‌‌‌iPhone‌‌‌.

According to Apple's release notes for the update, watchOS 8 fixes a couple of Apple Watch Series 3 bugs that affected software update progress and accessibility settings.
- Software update progress may not be displayed accurately for some Apple Watch Series 3 users
- Accessibility settings may not have been available for some Apple Watch Series 3 users
watchOS 8.0.1 is being released alongside iOS 15.0.2, a bug fix update for iPhone users.

These updates for all their devices seem incredibly underwhelming lately and aren't addressing serious issues.

Apple: *releases iOS 15.0.2 and WatchOS 8.0.1*

That literally has nothing to do with anything. I don't use betas. There are pertinent things that need to be addressed ASAP and these updates are so underwhelming that they can just package them with a later, more important update.

Well that was fun....tried to update directly on my watch, kept getting stuck in a loop to approve the user terms on my iPhone, which would show there.....finally had to perform the update on my Watch 3 directly from my iPhone and I keep getting repeated noticed to agree to the updated terms (which I do)......watch updates (especially on the 3) are almost more bother than they are worth.

Should we update the watch or wait until the Apple Watch 7 is here?
I think the new one is with 8.0 onboard and not 8.0.1.
A restore from a backup made with same software version is faster…

Interesting that this update is available for my S4. The change log suggests that it should only be offered to the S3 models.

Hopefully fix battery drainage. My AW5 can't hold for more than 7hrs. Used to be ok on a full day charge. Also it bricked my watch for 4 days.

Update: After installing the update, the battery drainage still the same. Fix this sh-t Apple!

My S4 watch battery life has been shot ever since WatchOS 8 - without doing any workouts or excessive screen usage, I've been getting low battery around 7-8pm every day. Really hoping 8.0.1 adresses this.
I've noticed a slight drop on mine, but not significant.

The most annoying bugs I've had with watchOS 8 are that app icons in notifications are sometimes missing, and sometimes the media controls are little fickle not wanting to show up when iPhone is playing or continuing to show up after iPhone has stopped playing.

I wish they would fix the ambient light sensor bug that causes the display stay dim in almost every setting regardless of the brightness setting, restarts, and re-pairings.

My 4 updated fine. Took a while but successfully installed. But as far as I can tell, it did not fix the complications not updating on their own. I still have to tap the complication to get it to update.

I thought this was just the ecobee complication/app acting up. Didn't realize this was a broader issue.
