What happened to the Control Center in 8.5.1? This is a function I use daily, maybe hourly to find my phone. Swipe up from the bottom and ping your phone to find it. After this update, this feature seems to be missing. I'm gonna panic if this feature has been removed and my phone will remain between the cushions in my couch.

The article title is incorrect as Apple's security page says there are no security updates in watchOS 8.5.1

It says it has no published CVE entries, which can mean Apple isn't disclosing some of them until later.
True that is theoretically possible, but unless Macrumors have access to information about vulnerabilities that the public do not then the title is still incorrect hearsay.

I, like I suspect many, look at the titles about new release articles to see if there's a security element to judge whether we need to move fast to apply the patch. If it's just functional changes you can then decide whether you're experiencing the bug it's fixing or if it's working OK for you and there's no urgency to fix what isn't broken.
I tend to prioritise security patches and leave others for a while to see if there's any side effects, so I wouldn't have applied this patch immediately if I'd known there weren't any CVEs in it.

Could be. I don't know what it actually says in Apple's release notes.

It's probably a copy and paste error on MacRumors's end.

Yeah, that's fair.

Interesting. That feature is still present on my S6, right where it's always been. Perhaps a reset is in order?

Finally they seem to have fixed the unmentioned alarm clock bug. Ever since Watch OS 8, I've noticed that switching a previously used alarm on again had become very difficult. I eventually figured out that it required a longer press on the sliding on/off switch, but it didn't feel intuitive. Now they've fixed it, where you can just tap on the on/off switch to toggle it. I use this feature daily and have had an Apple Watch since the first release, so it was incredibly annoying that they introduced this bug and took so long to fix it.

Are you planning to get another SS Apple Watch?

I'm feeling the same about my aluminum v3 and am considering getting a (hopefully 8) SS model.
I am not sure. The reason I got the stainless was the screen durability. I wear my watch everywhere, and that includes mowing the lawn, doing yardwork, running, biking, hiking, etc. I originally got the aluminum version and developed a scratch the first week. Best Buy Happily took it back and had me pay the restocking fee, which I thought was fair enough. The stainless has been through hell and back and the screen looks like the day I bought it. Not so for the case, but I don't really care about that, to be honest.

If this rumored "adventure" model, or whatever they call it, is cheaper than an SS and has the same screen durability, I'd go for that. The pricing is what really kept me from upgrading. The watches took a massive leap in price after the series 3 and don't show any signs of going in a different direction; in fairness there's quite a big leap in tech between an S3 and S7, but the only thing that would benefit me directly is the screen size bump. My watch was $500 all in and these days a basic aluminum (at MSRP) approaches that. o_O I may go the used route too, depending on what all we see with S8 and what prices on used S7 look like. These things don't seem to hold their value well, which is fine by me if that translates to half off a one year old device.

Anyone with a Series 4 seeing/experiencing battery issues? Wake up this morning, battery charged to 100% overnight. In ~30 minutes get notifications battery is down to 10% and then about 10 minutes later down to 3% and then dead. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this happen with 8.5.1. Saw this the first day after updating.
