I'm not 100% but I'm 99% sure they announced Mac Pro would have Catalina which usually means it will ship with it pre-installed.

https://www.apple.com/mac-pro/specs/ and scroll down to 'Operating System' - specifically states Mojave. Not saying that precludes it launching with Catalina - but they certainly haven't committed to that. I don't think it would be acceptable for a pro machine to not at least support Mojave - especially since Catalina is going to come with a mass cull of 32 bit abandonware which users will have to find alternatives to.

That 1% will get me every time :) Thanks for the correction

For those running beta of Catalina - is there any BIG difference between Mojave?

I feel that Mac OS X receives less and less attention, it's being pushed backwards.
From the threads, it's buggy and what concerns me is the fact that since it's not such a big leap ahead, being so buggy and so delayed with development - Apple does not care so much about the OS.

Probably they add better support for Mac Pro and that may also take some time, but still...
If they don't plan on much design on the OS, they should at least allow more customization - so that other devs cam make apps to allow us to tweak the OS.

Being nostalgic... I miss the 3D dock. (and no thanks! CDock is buggy and choppy)

What OS X features are you wanting? At this point it feels like OS software is nearly feature complete. Windows has a ton of stuff that I hate the way it works/looks (virtual desktops, settings, all the crap running) but not sure what features I want.

OS X including dark mode is nice. To me it's all about getting ready for ARM chips with Mac OS XI (?). If Apple kept OS X as it but made it quicker and even less resource intensive that would be great. I'm struggling to think of any major software update.

Either you miss-understood or I wasn't clear on my message.

Nevertheless, I have never said OS X sucks and please don't bring Windows in this... Windows is... well.. Windows... :)
All I am saying is that they pushed the OS upgrade and their focus is not on finishing the Mac OS primarely.
And if they don't plan to do some changes to the interface - at least allow 3-rd party apps to change the OS look. - All I am saying I would like to bring back the dock in 3D or have the option to have the UI rendered similar to SL.

But now they delay this to focus on iOS - I know... it's a cash cow for them....

I am just being nostalgic for the days when MAC OS was in their primary focus/

Not complaining about the OS at all! So please remove that from the table ;)

Right, but you would have to think Mac OS is 95% "done". Some nice to haves..sure. But it's about optimization now not adding features. This goes for all desktop OS's. I think the features lie within the applications. FCP X, Photos, iWork (if that is what it's still called), etc.

Meanwhile, they are selling incredibly powerful iPad Pro's with a completely gimped OS. iPadOS is not even close to being feature complete and it is really a remarkable piece are hardware. I tried to buy an iPad Pro last year but the OS was so bad I just stick with bringing my Macbook everywhere.

So while MacOS is getting the least amount of features added, there isn't even a strong backlog of features to add. There is a robust app community to tweak how the dock looks, virtual desktops, etc.

I Just purchased (1 month ago) an iPad pro 11 and I love it btw :)

i will Google for communities to change the dock. Thanks.

I'm surprised they're even still working on it.

But seriously though, I was hoping sooner rather than later. I'm wanting to finally get into iOS/iPadOS/watchOS/macOS development (I've done app design and some limited development patching things) and a big motivating factor for that is Swift UI and the ability to more easily develop apps for all platforms at once. Makes it easier and more worth it for a someone like me who is more of a designer who does web development to get into app development and to make more money across platforms while spending less time doing maintenance. I'm excited to try it out but don't want to install buggy beta software on my iMac which I use to make money.

You are in for a rough ride. Even with Swift UI you will need to learn the basics such as the iOS event loop, how the app delegate works, MVC, object-oriented programming, functional programming (when you're ready for it), etc.

Apple platform app development is completely unlike web development in a multitude of ways. Yes Swift UI (a.k.a. Apple's answer to React) is great, but that doesn't remove the requirement to write a significant amount of Swift code to handle UI events.

So the new Xcode - to make iOS 13 level apps - will run on Mojave?

That's correct. iOS and iPadOS are Apple's top priority, not macOS. macOS exists mainly for app developers and other creative professionals at this point. Other macOS users are a side-show business to Apple. Yes I'm aware of Tim Cook saying "...we love the Mac...." but this is the reality of it all.

You don't technically *need* macOS Catalina to develop apps for iOS 13 / iPadOS 13 / etc. with the latest public release of Xcode.

I started out doing some of that stuff in middle school and high school in the late 90s/early 2000s, so I’m hoping it will come back to me. I was consistently at the top of my classes, but I think years of photography and design school melted my brain a bit.

I expect this'll be the last OS for my 2012 MBP. Hoping I don't notice all the 32-bit apps that get the chop, we shall see. I'm missing Aperture already as I've finally moved away from it.

Haven't gotten that one yet ........

My Reminders did not sync with either of my Macs (see my Signature)
Your reminder looks “gorgeous” in dark mode. /s:p

I carefully choose to not upgrade, so that I can sync reminders as normal For the time being.

I actually LOVE the new UI. And I also love the 'remind me when I text someone' - I've been killing this feature over the last 2days lol. It actually helps me a lot to get a message as I text her/she texts me. I also like the flagged.

I haven't opened up my 'Air' since I hit the upgrade button... So we'll see how that goes. It did say that I can sync with my Air, but not my Pro

Install it on an external SSD then.
