I just got the Apple Remote app on my iPhone and iPad to use with my Apple TV, but I have a weird problem with it.
Movies and TV shows both load fine using the Apple TV itself, but the Remote app can only play TV shows. I can navigate the Apple TV with the Remote app to choose a movie, but I can't choose one from the list within the app. When I click a movie from the app, the TV connected to the Apple TV just displays "No content was found" with a caution symbol next to it. This is weird because TV shows chosen through the app work perfectly fine.
I haven't been able to find any others with the same problem. I went to Settings>General>Remotes and paired the remote. I tried un-pairing it and re-pairing it, I tried resetting the Apple TV, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, I tried turning the iPhone on and off. I might have tried other similar things. Is there anything else I should try?

Apple TV 3rd generation, software 7.0.2
iOS 8.1.2
Apple Remote 4.2.1 (latest version)
I had my friend try the app with my iTunes account at his house and it worked fully as it should. He also has the 3rd generation Apple TV.
