Anyone else find that it quickly gets tedious to use multiple left and right swipes to navigate long horizontal lists (movies etc)? Wouldn't it be nice to use one smooth movement?

Superimposed the "wheel" from the old apple remote to highlight the concept but it obviously doesn't have to be there physically. Left and right swipes would still work as today, with added wheel motion for long running left/right scrolling:

@Apple: Plz fix

Hell Yes, ever since the launch of the ATV4.

Better yet, I wish there was a D-Pad on the remote. I have my TVs' remotes programed to the ATVs they are connected to. Many times with browsing stuff, I just use the D-pad on the IR remote, instead of using the endless swiping with the Siri Remote.

Also, some apps are designed in a way to make browsing really difficult, especially with the Sir Remote. The Netflix UI is designed in a way that makes endless swiping the norm when browsing. I hate the UI of Netflix on the tvOS.

My remote(replacement #1) is so laggy as to make that 'feature' unusable.
Should Apple ever actually get the remote to work it would be a nice feature.

Not that it matters, but I think it is tvOS that is the problem, not the remote.

My ATV4 was actually running pretty well on tvOS 10, right before the tvOS11 upgrade.

Now I get random lag spikes.

Just a die note related to this, if you have a lot of apps installed on the 32GB ATV, I would try to clear up some space.

I was trying to purposely see if I could max out the storage space on my 64GB ATV4, but noticed that when I got into single digits of free space (GBs), the ATV lag got crazy bad. Apps were crashing, and the home screen kept restarting.

Anyways, I freed up some space and the lag got much better. If you have a 32GB ATV, and a lot of space is used, then try freeing up space. It might help.

Nice but never going to happen as Apple want a uniform experience across all platforms MacBook, iPad, iPhone, ATV etc with touch or trackpad.

And that's EXACTLY why I always recommend the 64GB one over the 32GB. You can never have too much storage! I agree things do run more smoothly when they have room to breathe. I always found that with my 16GB iPhones. With my iPhone X i went for 256GB and love the fact that I never have to worry again about space.

I like this idea, but why not go full iPod click wheel?

Round to scroll up and down, top click is menu/back, bottom click is pause, left click is rewind, right click is forward, center click is select.

Since it's touch sensitive, you can use taps instead of clicks for d-pad type navigation - up down left right.
