Apple Remote on new Macbooks?

Bought a new Late 2013 Macbook Pro, I noticed in "Security & Privacy" that there was no longer an option to enable the Apple TV remote for use on the Macbook Pro. Where do I go to enable it now?

Apple removed the IR sensor from the retina range.

Actually being removed everywhere, it seems. The only Macs still to have it are the minis and perhaps that's only because they haven't been refreshed in a year and a half. And of course the lame-duck 13" non-retina MBP which isn't long for this world.

That's the lame-duck model that still has it. But it hasn't been upgraded in a while and nobody expects it ever will be. So it still has the IR and DVD drive.

I use Rowmote, the app supports both remote and trackpad styles, I use it both on my iPad Mini and iPhone to control my Mac Mini - mainly use trackpad when using the iPad and Remote mode (i.e. play/pause etc), when using the iPhone.

The devices just need to be on the same WiFi network.....
