Apple remote special features? shutting down computer?

is there any special things you can do with the remote that came with the computer besides front row and iAlertU, as how i want a way to turn my whole computer off with it.

You can't shut down, but you can put it to sleep. Not the way you put a dog to sleep, though.

Just press the pause button.
You can make it sit, but if you try to make it play dead, it turns into a Dell.
No clue, but likely impossible.

Oof, I can understand how you could lose it. I have teeth bigger than the remote. I keep mine in one specific spot and ALWAYS put it back when I'm done. Having said that, tomorrow I'll lose it.

My problem is probably this darn bed. I have a nice shelf on the headboard, but there's a decent gap between the mattress and headboard that even DVD cases fall through.

I do like the idea of a little holder on my monitor except for there's not much extra space on it outside the display area. Maybe I'll concoct one for the side (or can you buy those somewhere?

just made this.
(its umm not the most exciting friday night, but i like what i made)
its a light switch remote i had put in a week ago which is beautiful because of how my light switch is across the room and they are pretty much my only lights, and the apple remote.
was thinking about taking them apart but...

now that i think of it you want my holder? it doesn't fit this anymore

I added some backing to the holder as you can see in the third pic.
