Apple Remote - 'Unpair' Button Greyed Out

For some reason my apple remote stopped working, so I replaced the batteries and tried pairing it again. Didn't work so I did some research and tried to Unpair it, but the Unpair button is greyed out (unclickable).

Any solutions to this?

Check to see which user account you are presently utilizing. You must be utilizing the Administrator Account. 😎

I am using an administrator account (I have only one account on my computer). The lock is also unlocked and I am able to make other changes.

Try this as well:

To pair your Apple Remote with your MacBook:

Position the Apple Remote 3 to 4 inches from the IR receiver on your MacBook.

Press and hold the Menu and Next/Fast-forward buttons on the Apple Remote for 5 seconds.
