A HomePod/Apple TV soundbar that uses HomePod minis as surrounds. Not only does it allow apple to bring special audio to the living room, but also centre stage mode, a theatre in a box system that’s simple and it allows the Apple TV to appeal to a wider user base. Plus a home theatre setup is more enticing to the average user than audiophile speakers
I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't completely replace the Apple TV as it is. I have a full home theater setup with a receiver and no need for a sound bar.

I can see such a product being great for some people though.

Maybe they will replace it with a model that just has FaceTime and Siri built in, that way you can get full control without going to weird workarounds with a HomePod in the same room (it rarely works) I have an Apple TV 4K and don’t see any reason to upgrade as the newest model is kinda underwhelming

Sound quality is absolutely supreme and my full-sized HomePod stereo pair is unparalleled. I purchased these for their sound quality and would’ve done so even if they had had no Siri functionality whatsoever. The first and most important aspect of any speaker is sound quality. The second most important aspect is its sound quality, and thirdly, the next most important characteristic is its sound quality.

I was meant to move house this year and my wife bought me a HomePod last Christmas. It was meant to be the crowning piece of my office.

Long story short, my house move fell through and I’m still in my flat. Any way, my Sonos Play 5 packed up last month, so still having a Beam, I got the HomePod out. And I love it. The sound is absolutely sumptuous. Looks as good as a Sonos. So, I think Apple missed a trick here as I think they should of made this one of their audio strategies rather than a Alexa killer but haven’t said that, I don’t know **** and don’t run a Trillion dollar company. But the sound is good!

Apple couldn't keep reviewers from comparing it to things like dirt-cheap dirt-sounding Alexa dots.

Great product. Marketing misfire.

Apple went big, then they had to go home (with their tail between their legs). :p
Classic case of not reading the market.
Not mention gimped feature set.

It took a while for Apple to sort it out but stereo HPs as default output for an Apple TV is working well. My fear is that a future software update to the HPs or ATV will wreck this.
Irritating that Apple dropped them and now doesn't acknowledge that they existed.
A similar thing happened with their Airport products like the Time Capsule.

If they no longer selling it why should it be listed.
That's not how online market place works.
Somebody will put in their Apple museum.

Another key reason they are killing this product is that they are self-destructing:

I have two in a stereo pair that now get warm (not hot yet) and at least one is now popping and crackling. I have to leave them unplugged at night or they wake me up. I have never run beta software. I am hoping 15.1 resolves these issues, but many on Reddit think it is a hardware issue. 1 year beyond the warranty.

I love the sound.

Goodbye best ever speaker Apple has made. All we have left is tiny little low-fi audio from a tiny speaker and lossless music..... go figure the contradiciton.

Felt it was priced higher. Anyway the Homepod mini is a good replacement, now available in some fantastic colours
No way it is a good replacement. It sucks ass and sounds worse than cheaper devices by google and amazon

Also worth noting that there's no up-front listing of the iPod Touch *anywhere*. I was only able to find it by using their "search" tool. It's not in any of the categories that I could find. I'm frankly surprised they haven't discontinued it yet.

Obviously. In the Keynote today Tim said the best way to listen to music was to use the HomePod mini. Timmy you’re telling a pork is pie there because the HomePod sounds better.
