Yep. Of course, it acts more like metallic glass, or plastic metal, but those names are nowhere near as exciting as (drumroll) "LiquidMetal". Hmm. Perhaps we should trademark a darker rock and roll alloy called "Heavy Metal"
There are obviously some issues holding it back from being used in mass market products and I hope Apple can overcome them.
Apple's got patents on things like mass manufacturing LM blanks to be melted into molded shapes, so they've definitely been working on it.
it appears Apple may hold exclusive patents and rights on the use of Liquidmetal® with regards to it's use in 3D printing. I believe it has only been licensed for injection molding in the past. This would definitely be in line with what kdarling stated above.
I'm kind of hoping that's part of their plans, too.
Why don't you go and look what liquidmetal actually is.
True, it normally looks more like dull pewter, than that shiny T-1000 movie image.
