They said that 2010 fall update counted as a major update and it would not be updated till this fall.

What 2010 fall update? Or is he really considering the addition of i7-640M for BTO as a major upgrade?

Apple reps are known to know nothing about the updates. They will try to sell you the ones they have there

Finally some official words. Thanks, but I may just wait for Haswell or Rockwell.
Btw, don't listen to what the haters here say, and asking for something like an official source or such. You have been here long enough to be trusted blindly.

Now on to some other fanny stories.

The only Fall update was the optional i7 processor...
And that didn't upgrade the specs to any standard MBP or MB.
It wasn't across the lines, or anything of that such that could have made it impact the update schedule.
I don't know what other people think, but I'm still betting on a late February, March, or April update. Maybe when a press conference is called for the second iPad, it will be a "Oh, and one more thing" kind of update.

Sounds like a good decision. I will definitely be waiting for Haswell for my next Mac Pro, anyway.

I'm buying Sandy Bridge now when it comes, and when MBP gets Rockwell it is time to upgrade anyway :D

Young Ryan of Seattle. Old Steve of Cupertino doesn't share his plans with many people. I can assure you that GuyWhoNeedsBath of Apple Store was not one of them.

Major? It was even significant? Think that rep should return to selling cars.

You are correct, sir. Just like when they tell you that, later, the mbas can have ram upgraded. Bottom line is that they're salesmen.

Funny, but it is not a major update. As long as I don't believe the Feb/Mar rumour, I don't think it can be Fall.

I love how lots of newbs are so fast to post a comment mocking the op
When they have been here a year or less and concerned with post count.
So stupid to see the same thing said 5 different ways.

And the comment this thread that actually deserves a lock/ ban
Are you such a fool how Many mbp refresh topics do we need
Cause the 4 new ones a day are informative and needed?

Aside from the op, I count one newbie. As far as your second paragraph, say what?
