Hi, I was just wondering, in the event that my iMac G5 would need repair, would they make me bring it into an apple store or would applecare just send me a box...how does it work? Thanks

Apple talks you though several diagnostic and repair procedures. (Often this retries reinstallation of OSX or doing several other things that you have already checked. Be cool and patient.)

If the part is user serviceable, they will overnight (or second day) you the part with instructions. They can even talk you throught the fix. Then you ship the part back via the same box. Do it quickly or they will charge the credit card used to insure that you return the prart(s).

If not, Apple will then overnight you a pre-payed box with instructions. Follow the instructions, call the shipping companies 800 number, and they pick it up.

Apple fixes the problem, in most cases, and ships the computer back to you.
