My mini tried to catch fire in my pocket. Went by the store to get it looked at and they told me then they’d be replacing it. Instead of giving me another 13 mini they gave me an XR to use while it was being diagnosed. I had to fly to Europe the next day so for the past 17 days I’ve had an XR for daily use. I hate that they couldn’t just give me my phone and it was pretty annoying that they have me the XR, which is the slipperiest phone over ever held, without a case. So I had to buy my own case.

I went to Europe and I don’t know what the battery on the XR is but I did appreciate it. Outside of that it took about all I had not to throw it in the river. It was far too big to comfortably use with one hand. Much bigger than I’d expected. The camera is horrible and I honestly don’t know why they designed it the way they did. It’s like someone went out of their way to make it horrible to hold. I think the iPhone X was the best size. I haven’t used any 12, 13, or 14pro but yesterday after I landed I went to the Apple Store and picked up my new 13mini. I was amazingly happy with it again. So with a 17 day trial period I still couldn’t find anything to enjoy about the XR except the larger battery and even though I travel for a loving and am one of the few that could really use it I still have no problem making it with my mini.

How much better to hold is the 14pro?

I had the XR. It seemed massive and had the curved edges. Just too big. Then I got the 12, and I think the screen size is the same, but the squared edges makes it so much easier to hold.

I gave my cousin my old 12 Pro and he had the XR prior to that and made the same observation re: the squared edges!

and to answer the question re: the holding of a 14P, the 14 pro is a joy to hold itll be similar to your 13 mini just on a bigger scale.

I've never had a phone replaced by Apple. Does it usually take that long to get a replacement?

You kinda glossed over the part about the phone catching fire in your pocket. What happened?!?
Yes I’m very interested to find out what happened there, and what if anything Apple said may have been the issue?

Second month with my 13 mini daily use an do my smartphone with 1.53rd prior using the 12 mini never experienced anything like this. So I’m concerned for the op.

AC+ is a must for apple products
Not really. Never wasted money on AC+ because of warranties and I also take care of my belongings.

I still have a Mini 1 from 2012 which I use as a Netflix and podcast machine which is in perfect condition… Apple products, which are not lemons, that function fine after the 1-2 years of warranty coverage have an extremely low chance of ever breaking unless the user is clumsy or uncaring. I have a range of iPads and iPhones going back from 10 years and not a single one has ever broken down on me.

Agreed. My 7 and 8 work perfectly daily. Apple makes incredibly solid hardware and I’m a windows guy so I have receipts.

I still have a 2013 MacBook Air & 2011 iMac both still work except for a little slow! They still do what’s required for now! Apple tech is hands down the reliable things ever most of the time! 🤣
