That never happened when the conveyer band was introduced: humans just did or produced more of the same. AI will not replace jobs, at the most aid people. Recent surveys among CEOs also indicate that AI is having less impact on work than initially anticipated. Let alone having ways to recoup that 1 trillion (or something?) dollar in investments…Another thing to consider is that most AI tools at the moment are LLMs. There is a limit to what LLMs can do and they already start getting trained on their own slop.

Imagine AI on the battlefield and Command Cen, AI in medical review, etc. the field is limitless. While some human workforce will be needed it will be a fraction and with minimal delays.

I can imagine quite a bit. The trouble is, most AI researchers don't see the current hyperscaler AI approaches ever getting there. Emulating language via statistics won't produce intelligence, and OpenAI, Anthropic et al have no clue how to progress, regardless of how much money they are allowed to burn on their dead-end technology.

Apple, buckets of money in tow, arrive willing to pay 200% as they can still meet their ROI goals with that. Samsung, not knowing how much money is on the table, offers 100%. Apple’s like, “sure”. Done.

If this story is remotely “a thing that happened”, this is likely closer to what happened.

100% is a pretty good deal. I bought a 4TB SSD (not RAM, I know, but NAND flash) for under $200 and I thought that was expensive. Now, the same SSD goes for multiples of that price.

FYI: The price increase is just a few dollars. The customers are going to pay a $100 increase.

Apple customers will be "agreeing" to a much larger increase.

They do, but it takes time, and according to current predictions it won’t start having a noticeable effect before 2028.

Not sure anyone would actually know if Apple agreed to 100% or 10% or 1000% increases in price. But, doesn't matter much either way. I'm pretty happy with my 17 Pro Max. Looking to get another iPad though (2023). And that M5 Max!!!!! 😎

Tim Cook is just doing what he does best. Steve Jobs, for all his smarts and ability to recognize great talent, chose the wrong man to replace him. He tried to have the best of both worlds by having Jony Ive be in charge of products and be the visionary for tej company but you can’t have two people at the top and expect that to succeed, especially when the numbers guy holds the top title.

Jobs was seeking more profit margin manufacturing from the start of returning to Apple. When Obama was Presidentvand asked Jobs to bring some manufacturing back to USA , Jobs said it wasn’t going to happen . Nobody even tried until after Jobs was dead .
