I am afraid we'll again see some stupid omissions of SW features.
It'll be a shame if they skimp on such basic camera features (as per 2025 standards), this phone has the basics sorted and could well be a minimalist's dream phone.
I think it’s very likely to come as the previous omission was due to the camera hardware. Fingers crossed.

PWM sensitive people want a modern SE with a non-flickering LCD screen.
And $50 cheaper with long lasting battery compared to OLED.

Those of us who use our phones for texting, photos, calls and CarPlay link but use an iPad for browsing, email, games, media JUST...WANT....A....SMALLER....PHONE. Give us back the mini. Okay I'll go crawl back under my rock now.

If they put an A18 in this for Apple Intelligence, surely they will have to discontinue the iPhone 14 and 15? Who would buy them?

The 14 will be in a very awkward position but wouldn't be for long. The 15 will still have a better camera and a newer design (Dynamic Island).

At least the A14, and it wouldn't be cheap. The A15 would still have a better camera and maybe a better screen?

The Apple Margins are not quite adding up if they price it at $499. Do we really think that they'll take a hit at their profit margins just to offer average consumer an option below $500? $549 for 128GB seems plausible as of now. In case they can launch it at $499, kudos to them for thinking about the consumer after a long 4 and half years (Launch of MacBook Air M1 at good price).
Don’t forget it will use BOE displays and Apple’s own cellular chip, which will save them cost.

Those who don’t want AI. Didn’t you see all the “I hope it can be turned off” comments in the AI news threads? ;)

Yeah, already mentioned it above. The cost savings for the OLED is $5-10 (when compared to iPhone 14's OLED sourced from SDC) and another good $40-50 I am assuming at the very least for the 5G Modem. Looking at the lineup right now, iPhone 14 is $599 and it'll be surprise if they can come up with possibly a much better device (sans the UW Camera Module) than the iPhone 14 at $100 lower price-point.

The OLED panels in the Pro models are terrible, and those are Korean. Imagine how bad the Chinese panels must be.

Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14's OLED are completely alright (even for 2024 standards) except for the PWM. The peak and outdoor brightness are not terrible either, comfortably visible outside. That's the thing with using older, well-tested and reliable components which stood the test of time.
[a tiny percentage of SDC Supplied screens had developed green line issue]
Edit:
Addendum- BOE supplies good OLED panels, nothing to be worried about (not getting into the debate of unethical patent infringement allegations, completely separate topic altogether)

iPhone 14 will awkwardly stay in the lineup until iPhone 17 is released.

It’s doubtful the iPhone 14 will remain in the lineup after the new SE launches. When the original iPhone SE launched in March 2016, the iPhone 5S on which it was largely based was discontinued. When the second generation iPhone SE launched in April 2020, the iPhone 8 on which it was largely based was discontinued.

Good! Eagerly waiting to see the next iPhone SE. Wonder what the price will be with all the changes.

Just release the device that would have been the 14 (or 15) mini had they continued the line. Increase the RAM so it works w/ Apple Intelligence and voila! SE4 for a reasonable price.

The SE4's raison d'etre is "cheaper" and "parts bin".

The iPhone 14 brought in Apple's more repairable design, which makes way more sense to use.
