Rev B is not ready to ship for a few more months. You really think the White delay is paint?

As someone who has had to try matching white paint to paint over a patch in a wall, I'm going with, "Yes, definitely." Seriously, managing a consistent white color over multiple batches of paint is much more difficult than you'd think.

* By "serious competition" I don't mean the geek audience who will gladly buy anything not made by Apple, rootkit it immediately and show off their command line skilz to their buddies. I'm talking about a device that grandma sees and thinks, hey, I could use that. In other words, serious competition for the iPad among the 90% of the population that is not a geek. Right now the iPad is the only thing out there for that large market which is why Apple can barely make the things fast enough.

Unfortunately there are plenty of people that will buy a tablet because it is like an iPad and costs less. A friend once bought a phone and said "Look, I have a phone like yours." Unfortunately it was a horrible Instinct that has been nothing but frustrating for her. A lot of your 90% don't know what they are getting past the pretty pictures on the box.

Glad to see sales are high enough to pose this as a problem for Apple. It will be interesting to see how the future generations of this product fare. I am still waiting for Vev.B before I go with one.

Probably a smart move at this point,presumably half way through the 12 month cycle.I,however have zero regrets on my day 1 purchase.If iPad 2 is compelling it's off to ebay with it!

Apple is building the minimal amount it can until Jan. Then it with quickly go to 24hrs. IN Black and White Rev B. chassis.

I'll bet real money against that.

But Bet...In the Target getting the iPad thread people said it was because Apple had warehouses bursting with unsold iPads and were dumping them on any retailer who would take them...

Exactly right, here is a device I can give to my elderly mother and she will understand how to use it in a very short time. This is the magic behind the iPad. I finally got my hands on an iPad. What I found interesting is it did not have the same impact to me as the first time I had an iPod Touch in hand. The Touch instantly had me hooked, I just had to have one. The iPad on the other hand was really cool but it was familiar, thanks to the touch, I don't have the "I have to have one right now" feeling I had with the Touch. I'll get one but frankly I want the new iPod Touch first.
