Apple has commissioned a series based on bestselling novel "Dark Matter," which author Blake Crouch will adapt himself, according to Collider.

The series is reportedly set to be produced by Matt Tolmach, who has previously worked on the films "Venom," "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," and "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Tolmach previously developed Dark Matter as a feature film for Sony, which paid 1.25 million dollars for the rights in 2014, but the latest incarnation of the project seems to be a series.

Sony Television will serve as the studio for the project, but the series is expected to ultimately premiere on Apple TV+ exclusively.

The Dark Matter novel is a high-concept sci-fi thriller, and the story is said to explore the paths taken by different choices and how far individuals will go to achieve their dreams. The book was an instant New York Times bestseller, and went on to be published in 35 languages around the world.

YES!! I love this author! This book and Recursion were both phenomenal! I am so glad Apple is grabbing more sci-fi and producing soooooo many upcoming projects. There's a massive list of new TV+ shows on the horizon (plus who knows how many future seasons each) and I'm here for it.

Just to add to others: This is a really good book, and could be great if done right.

On what basis? Everything else they've done has been top notch in every aspect. You have to look at a company's track record when you make judgment calls.
Did you see See? Lol

Not nearly as good as I had hoped in my opinion. The Morning show was surprisingly good though.
I liked Ted Lasso, 'See' was meh, The servant was terrible., Amazing Stories was just a notch above bad. Morning show was just okay. Everything else awful...

I heard that Recursion was picked up by Shonda Rhimes/Netflix. If anyone can get it right it will be Shonda.

I think this person just has bad/different taste that doesn’t align with general consensus. Best more to just ignore than to fight about it.

Dark Matter is a pretty good book that if adapted well could be really great. It’ll need a decent budget as well which luckily Apple should give it.

Damn, for a minute I thought they were going to take over the reigns of this show.

I got excited for two seconds when reading the article. I wish someone would revive this.

I don’t think I’ll renew an annual AppleTV subscription, but this looks like a show where I might pay for a month and binge this along with a couple other things.

Apple’s got a few great shows and well made, but there’s just not enough to keep me paying every month. I do the same thing with CBS all access we pay for 1 month every year or so to watch the Star Trek stuff both that’s about it.

Oh I loved this book! Strangely I saw this in my Books last night and decided to give it a re-read soon.

Wasn't really impressed with the book but the concept isn't that original..think Sliders. Hopefully, the series can do more with it. From what I remember though the MC was pretty stupid along with a ridiculous ending. That's still enough to make it more interesting than most of the ATV+ garbage.

Mythic Quest was shockingly good after the 1 episode. There is also a semi random episode in the middle of the season that is one of the best stand alone episodes of any show I've seen.

No spoiler, but the twist in the 3rd act was pretty surprising. Good make for a really good mini series.
