I see this overall suit going nowhere as giants like Google will certainly step into the ring and go head-to-head against Apple. Based on how Apple is doing things, they are using HTC as a proxy to go after their competition, Android and even Windows Mobile OS. Going through the patent listings, Apple is primarily going after software base that Google has created. Also, Apple has even had the balls to mention Windows Mobile OS in their list of "generalized patents." So not only is Apple stepping on Google's foot, but also Microsoft. Apple has put themselves in a world of hurt to come as both Google and Microsoft have relations in much higher places than Apple could even fathom.

On a separate note, Job's is also being a down-right hypocrite as he has publicly stated he basis his company on stealing of innovation and ideas. You Apple fanboys need to get a grip and realize your beloved company has been in the same position as HTC, Google, etc. If you need some clarification over your vast Apple butt-kissing, i'll give you a little video to show how evil and corrupt Jobs/Apple really can be... Remember how OSX was created? It was stolen Unix source code. Also, that nice little GUI everyone originally loved? Well, it was also stolen from Xerox. And the most profound and interesting patent dispute of them all is the the weird one: "Under-Volting a mobile CPU to cut power consumption." How they can patent a simple and well known law of physics, P=V*A, is beyond me! What a great company Apple has turned out to be?

1) When that video was made, Jobs was no longer at Apple
2) That video has been taken out of context
3) That’s not hypocrisy. Jobs is not advocating the violation of patents whatsoever. Stealing ideas from the competition is very different from patent violation.
4) This horse was beaten to death before several pages ago. Read the thread.

That's not what they patented. Read the patent claims, not the title. Here's the broadest (easiest to invalidate) claim:
1. A method for reducing static power consumption of a processor, comprising:

receiving a signal indicating that instruction execution within the processor is to be temporarily halted; and

in response to the signal,

halting an instruction-processing portion of the processor, and

reducing a voltage supplied to the instruction-processing portion of the processor, while maintaining full voltage to a second portion of the processor, wherein reducing the voltage supplied to the instruction-processing portion of the processor involves reducing the voltage to a minimum value that maintains state information within the instruction-processing portion of the processor;

whereby the second portion of the processor can continue to operate while the instruction-processing portion of the processor is in a reduced power mode.

It's a very late date (2002), so I think I could invalidate it. Most of the prior art, however, dealt not with reducing voltage to unused logic (which is hard) but instead stopped the clock (which is easy). Stopping the clock, however, only affects dynamic power consumption, not static power consumption. Until recently most people didn't care about static power consumption (in CMOS, at least) because it was a small component of the overall power consumption. So it's possible no one discussed this particular sequence of steps prior to the priority date of the patent.

False. OSX is based on the NEXT OS. NEXT was based on the Mach kernel (which is free), Free BSD (a free UNIX variant), and the freely available NetBSD.

All of these are legal for Apple to use and they are properly licensed from their respected owners. Unless you can prove otherwise, Apple stole nothing.

Also, that nice little GUI everyone originally loved? Well, it was also stolen from Xerox.

Again, false - Apple paid for the technology in a stock exchange. Apple has NEVER claimed invention of the GUI concept.
