That's what I've been saying. Outside of MacRumors...I have NEVER heard ANYONE complain about Apple devices that still use Lightning. On MacRumors...people act like it's the apocalypse. If the majority of users actually gave a crap...the switch would have happened a long time ago.Believe it or not, outside the echo chamber of online forums, I think most people don't give a rat's ass if their AirPods use the "wrong cable" to charge. People will just plug it in (using the cable everyone has lying around already) and move on with their lives. Or they'll just charge it wirelessly.
Wait, what? When did they add MagSafe? Carp, I’m behind the times!Apple has released new versions of AirPods charging cases twice in the past to add new hardware features such as wireless charging and MagSafe.
No, no no! You can get USB on the cheapest version of a big-button phone for senior citizens. Is that really “pro”, hmmmm?obviously. usbc is a PRO feature
95% of consumers don’t care. Read it until you understand it. This is a big nothing to most people. You made an independent decision that you decided was worth the trade off. That doesn’t mean that this move is not brazenly anti-consumer in the grand scheme of things.
while I haven’t been as massive a USB-C defender as others, I do take issue with this a bit.I'll even call BS on the "if everything uses USB-C, I'll only need one cable". Yeah...you charge all of your devices one at a time? Doubt it. If you have enough free time to do that...I envy you!
Because making everyone replace their lighting devices and cables is an environmental thing ... I have 6 or 7 cables and several devices I have no plan to replace that are lighting.Absolutely despicable.
Apple adorns itself with borrowed feathers when it calls itself environmentally friendly by prolonging this extension.
I hope the EU will ban the sales until they get their crap together.
It’s not a stupid question. This is what happens to all of my old earbuds…but not when I “upgrade”…when I replace them:OK, maybe a stupid question, go easy on me, but what do most people do with their previous AirPods when they upgrade?
Every single person I show how I connect all my devices with one cable (and adapters as needed) want to make that switch. The faster we get everything on USB C, the better.Believe it or not, outside the echo chamber of online forums, I think most people don't give a rat's ass if their AirPods use the "wrong cable" to charge. People will just plug it in (using the cable everyone has lying around already) and move on with their lives. Or they'll just charge it wirelessly.
I bought Airpods 3 last weekend to replace my 2’s, knowing full well that everything is switching to C soon.
How did I get screwed?
I carry just about every connector there is, even if I don’t have a device for one.Every single person I show how I connect all my devices with one cable (and adapters as needed) want to make that switch. The faster we get everything on USB C, the better.
Edit: These are traveling professionals I'm referring to. Worth including who is in the demographic I'm referencing.
Same for keyboards so I can type faster.I want Thunderbolt 4 on my AirPods, so that I can listen faster.
Same. And I also charge my MacBook Pro and Air with USB-C. The magsafe charger and cable for the Pro are still unwrapped in the box.I have both an iPad Pro with USB and an iPhone with lightning connector. I wish I could charge all my stuff with the one cable. Either Lightning or USB C. Now it is paranoid with swapping cables all the time.
I found the thinner lightning cables tend to get frayed if you flex them frequently in used close to plugged in connector. Where as USB-C cables are noticeably thicker, less flexible likely to wear better unplugging/flexing cables around the connector. You also have braid on some USB-C cables is more strong. While I wish Apple would have moved to USB-C faster, lightning does have its advantages. At least it has with me. With all my lightning products I have owned over the years I have never broken a lightning port on the device itself - although have on some cables. However I've had multiple devices, including two iPad Pros, where the USB-C port itself has failed or broke.
