Apple Reportedly Orders 100 Million A15 Chips for Upcoming iPhone 13

In short, production of the A15 has already started probably since the beginning of June 2021. And this means the M2 SoC based on the A15 could start production fairly soon, probably as early as late September 2021.

I don't care about the notch, or 120hz.

Fingerprint ID on the screen would be a big plus, and a reason I would more likely consider an upgrade as opposed to not.

The notch or 120hz will not drive me to an upgrade....

I'm with you on the TouchID, but 6E on a phone, will that make any difference whatsoever? I'm still on a XS and have no urgent need to upgrade. Battery would be about the only thing right now that would make me want to upgrade.

The A15 will end up not only in the iPhone 13 lineup, but also in an updated iPad Mini. It also might be used for an iPad Air refresh and an iPhone SE 3. Could be why the order is so much larger.

I remember when people were discussing the iDevice (iPhones, iPad and at the time iPods) market reaching 100 million as being a key to make of a platform. Now we are discussing 100 million a year? My goodness, great job Apple.

With 20-25 reserved for the iPhone SE 3 the ordering its not so high as it sounds.

And also the sixth generation iPad mini and iPad Air 5 possibly getting the A15 as well.

That's a lot of phones. I'm excited to see what Apple actually announces and what rumors turn out to be true.

At this point all the rumors of late are true in my opinion. There will be nothing new unless it's software based or a new color. Even then, the burnt orange color has been rumored. I want metallic 70s dashboard brown or bust!
