they just want to fill the blanks in terms of pricing between Air and Pro, you pay more than for a MBA for a not better laptop and you pay less than a MBP for a non-Pro laptop

For me, as someone who can’t stand OLED screens and I’m not willing to pay for it, the part that brings me joy of this rumor is that we’re going to keep having LCD IPS MacBook Airs until 2030.

A 13” MBA with an M7 or M9 is going to be a great upgrade for those with M4 or M5 MBAs

Make it 15" and I am first in the queue.
I feel the days of needing a powerful laptop are definitely waning with AI. My future set up will be a Mac Studio running my Agents and a lighter weight laptop [hopefully this rumoured model] acting as a surface and local tasks.

I'll believe this when it happens because I've never once thought I wish I had something between the air and the pro. In fact, the only thing I want is a with a smaller screen like the old MacBook that was 11 inches I think as an ultra portable.

Normally I would have dismissed this idea, but with Ramageddon pricing on the Pro’s and no solution on the horizon, I think it makes sense to squeeze a product in between, in the space where they historically have sold an older MacBook Pro version. Don’t forget, they have had an old, simple version of MBP between Air and the “real” MBP for many years. So it’s not that outrageous an idea.

I hope it is the laptop half of new Mac Liberty two piece portable Mac. The laptop half should be light, silent, and able to browse web as a stand alone iOS laptop, and wirelessly connect to the other half, a fast powerful CPU, optimized for speed and connectivity with quiet cooling, battery, storage, ram etc.

Good lord no!

Imagine going into the 2030s with LC displays, notches, pinholes, and 60/95 Hz, with ANYTHING in this ballpark price class really. If true – absolutely shameless...
