Yeah, I would argue it helps. Don`t believe it would help at all for 60 on 120hz, but 60 hz hardware would struggle a bit more with lower frame rate content, and doubling the refresh rate would reduce/remove that issue. Given the processor and the rest of the chips are matched with 120hz and do the job with lower frame rate content. Just upping the panel to 120 hz won`t cut it I believe.

Guess that would be something people should keep in mind for budget TV`s in particular - processors/main board++ needs to be more capable and it is not just for the brands to swap 60hz with 120hz panels. Can only speak for the one I got, but I specifically avoided available (similar) 2023 models because I wanted the latest gen processor, and I believe LG`s is slightly better than Samsung`s processor at same level of their newest generation. As I seriously do not want Android in my TV, LG and Samsung are the options as far as this market goes. Don`t like Google. At all. ;)
Hm, i dont care about android, bought sony oled, got it calibrated and I am fine for few years:)

Good for you, hard pass on Google TV as far as I`m concerned. Having said that, I am under no illusion whatsoever pertaining Samsung/LG and privacy. There are all sorts of advice to block it, only solution I believe DID work (don`t know if it still do) is to block certain ports in your router. When I get around to it, I`ll check what my VPN vendor facilitates of blocking options.

Look, u can always set it as stupid tv and connect apple tv box… all i care about is panel/picture quality. And i must admit, i like sony processing most (with panasonic, too)

Agreed. Never, ever connect your TV directly to the internet. Set it up as a dumb TV and use an Apple TV box if you need to stream.

Also, not only do I also prefer Sony/Panasonic processing, but Sony has a physical switch on its TVs, allowing you to turn off the built-in microphone.

What makes you think a super-thin 27 or 32(+) inch Apple monitor would not be expensive? Takes a bit more to keep a skinny 32 from being flimsy, and that costs both in engineering, materials and production.
Well, I spoke about a mini ASD, I meant under 27’, like the iMac 24’ display. Would be nice also to have more Choice of Colors

That`s a different ballgame, agree. However, would that really be sufficiently attractive to a wide enough audience? Can only speak for myself, but I made the transition to 27" more than 10 years ago and went 32" 3-4 years ago if my memory serves me right. The one advantage I can think of with smaller screens in terms of productivity is that one would be more likely to keep a similar workflow to laptop usage, and I always pictured laptop screens as a very limiting factor.

Got my first laptop around 1990 - the first really portable one which could run AutoCad, I don`t do any real graphics work these days, the factor defining the size being read, write and research in 3+ windows, but I still find size a pre as long as it doesn`t have to be portable (have been using Mosaic to organize the workspace).

I play a little bit with Blender, and enjoys messing about with Resolve (purely amateurish) and so on, but whatever I do, I find a decent size monitor highly valuable and appreciated.

A couple of years ago I was equipped with a laptop + a 27 at work, and used the the laptop screen to compensate for less real estate and I seriously disliked it. The laptops I did use for a long time was 14" high spec Thinkpads, but I got the extra laptop keyboard and used them with external monitors whenever I could.

Might be just me and my mindset, but I always worked better on a large monitor. What I did realize with 32" was that I didn`t want 34" where 3 A4 pages will fit rather perfectly, and I also realized that 40" would be over the top for present usage.

So, I don`t understand the pref for 24" and I don`t understand iMac 24, but hey, people are different and have different preferences and work "styles".

If this is true, you can bet only the higher-tier iMacs will receive 90Hz, while the base model sticks with 60Hz.

When Apple releases a new display that’s usually it for a decade. Whilst they REALLY need to update the Studio Display, I’ll believe it when I see it.

This is the price history of the Pro Display XDR in Switzerland since it was introduced in 2019. There seems to be happening something. The recent price drop might hint at the end of life approaching fast for the display. I assume the Pro Display XDR 2 will be announced next year alongside the M4 Mac Pro, probably at WWDC in June.

Which screen is that does 5K2K with 120Hz for just $725? Genuinely interested.

By the way, the Crossover 5K2K 120Hz monitor is available in Korea today for as low as $600 if you have a certain credit card, $650 without the credit card. With a no-dead pixel guarantee. There are some other brands with even lower prices but I haven't hung around enough to do any comparison.

But this does presage the arrival in the United States of very reasonably-priced, high-quality 40" 5K2K 120Hz refresh-rate monitors. Maybe even 144Hz or higher soon.

I do think a 34" 5K2K monitor would be better if your desk is shallow, though.

Yesterday, Ross Young hinted on X that he has information on a new Apple display which seems to be a new category and not a successor to the Pro Display XDR or Studio Display. He is currently verifying this before posting additional details....seems that something might finally be released soon, maybe together with the M4 Mac Studio in June...

An ultrawide Apple monitor would be an Instant Buy for me, if only I hadn't made a Great Buy a few months ago. Imagine a 21:9 iMac!

A forty-inch WUHD 5K2K monitor is definitely over the top if your desk is shallow. I find myself wanting to buy a new desk since I got the 40" monitor.

Have you got a link? I can't find any that can do it at 5k2k.

I use my LG 5K2K with a Secretlabs XL desk. It is a very good combination.

Neat, how is the pixel density @cyb3rdud3 . I used to own a 5k2 34'' that seemed good enough, but the absence of curve had become a dealbreaker.
I'm no graphics designer, I also have an LG 34" 3440x1440 at another desk with a single USB-C connector but this 5k2 is at a different level. I mainly use them for the extended realestate on the screen. I develop software, I do day trading, and my daughter makes music :)

For me it is good enough, but as a graphic design I would care more about the pixel density and then would also not go curved. I really like curved at it saves moving my head too much. I've got my equipment for that one connected through an iVanky thunderbolt 4 dock. With the older 34" I'm using a Dell thunderbolt 3 dock.

A 90hz panel is only saving money any good 4k TV uses 120 hz so sinking any effort by Apple to promote this ploy.
And nobody in their right mind would use a TV as a monitor for their computer ;) So what is the point you are making?

Lol why not? It’s a very ignorant remark, but if you are unable to answer and prefer to stick to your question: all proper panels made in this size are 120 Hz minimum nowadays. So anything below 120 Hz would be an intentional handicap.
