Samsung MX Division (which makes smartphones, tablets, computers, wearables and network equipment) only had $19 billion. For anyone who thinks Galaxy smartphones are anywhere close to the iPhone for sales.

The corporate comparisons you made are valid, but be careful comparing to Samsung divisions. Samsung phones use Samsung components and it's not clear what division is credited with the profit for those components. So when Samsung puts their own RAM and flash components in their phone, does the Mobile division get the parts at cost at the expense of the Semiconductor group, or does Semiconductors get to charge Mobile whatever markup they want?

It's possible Samsung sells RAM to itself at a higher margin than other customers in order to show better profitability in Semiconductors. I don't know what they do for sure, but I always try to keep that in mind when I compare against a division of a conglomerate like that.

It’s irrelevant where they get the components. These are the revenues for finished products they sell to consumers through retail channels.

And the MX Division (which sells Galaxy smartphones and a lot of other devices) isn’t even at 1/3 the revenue if the iPhone.

Sorry, for some reason I was thinking profit...

Oh nonsense.

iPhones are now the top sellers in China, even ahead of Huawei. You may want to consider retracting your inaccurate statement.
Quote from CNBC:

“Apple reported fiscal first-quarter earnings on Thursday that beat estimates for revenue and earnings.

But it showed a 13% decline in sales in China, one of its most important markets. “

A very good holiday quarter for Apple! Revenue from sales in India is increasing at a steady pace.

  • Margins continue growing nicely from stuck-in-the-mud around 40% several years ago to almost 46% today.
  • Base model restraint is having a positive effect.on margins.
  • Services revenue will inevitably continue growing as price increases are now an annual event across core Apple digital service offerings - customer loyalty and lock-in makes this an easy win every year for stakeholders.
  • Apple has done a spectacular job of making the EU farce look as unedifying as possible to prevent other governments from following their lead. The DMA is being driven to failure and the issue will be put to bed globally.
Everything is pointed nicely in the right direction. Apple will continue winning and winning and winning and winning.

man, services is almost 20%. I guess base 5gb could storage will never be bumped up to 10 at least..

Yeah of course services revenue is up, they keep raising prices of Apple One subscriptions. Premier went up, what $5 recently or so?

Clearly Cook is not interested in pressing innovation. He delegates that and without the strong guiding hand of a true product developer Apple has slowly slid into meaningless iterations of past glories.

Today they launched a product category that may have taken $5-10 Billion to develop. A product touted by the few that have seen it so far as revolutionary. How is that compatible with what you just said?

Apple is still a one trick pony. But this one trick is getting a bit long in the tooth.
The era of ai devices is now and there is no more Jobs to invent Apples version of an ai device.

Increasing the size of the camera lenses every year is no innovation, Apple (while decreasing the OS quality every year).

If Apple only sold iPhones, they would be a one trick pony. iPad/Mac/AirPods/Watch are industry leading product categories. They all contribute to the bottom line. iPhone is by far the biggest contributor but Apple is by no means a one trick pony.

As iPhones sales are starting to level out curious if Apple is looking for another mass adoption product like the iPhone in the AVP.

You mean the isolating headset that Cook is gambling on being his legacy at Apple? The iPad for your face?

LOL

You have to see the whole picture. Apple missed the transformation into a service company and it missed the cloud as well.
The iPhone is still the major cash cow of Apple. Huge iPhone sales and revenues allow Apple to develop custom chips which it can in turn use for other products like Macbooks. The services Apple offers are mostly tightly coupled to the iPhone, like the AppStore service (Apples service cashcow).

If iPhone sales decline, Apple declines as well.

Just subtract iPhone number from this chart and Apple is bankrupt.

Apple saw the trend of lengthening upgrade cycles coming a mile away and has adjusted their business strategy accordingly. They don’t need you to keep buying iPhones, they just need you to keep using them.

More accessories, more services and subscriptions, even Apple Pay, they all earn Apple a cut when you use them. And let’s not forget that the iPhone install base continues to grow by way of the second hand market. Apple may not make any money out of you selling your older iPhone to someone else, but that is still a new iOS user whom Apple able to monetise in the aforementioned manner (and maybe more).

People still attempting to tie Apple’s fortunes to iPhone sales have been missing the plot for … only about 4 years now?

You say it yourself. Everything is build upon the iPhone. Just image a disruptive technology Apple fails to deliver, like AI or another company the delivers a new stunning device.

Keep this in mind - Apple is still a one trick pony. If the iPhone breaks, everything starts tumbling down.

Possible but unlikely, in part due to the overall stickiness of the Apple ecosystem.

If they don't maintain that profit margin, then tons of retired people, with investment portfolios containing Apple stock, will see their retirement savings gouged out due to the likely resulting drop in AAPL stock price. So raising prices is in fact anti-gouging.
There is no way you just said that. WOW. You live in LALA land.

10s of millions of new people in the Apple ecosystem but not succeeding in selling very many new Macs to them... too expensive for too little storage and RAM for the average customer perhaps?
