I posted this quarter I felt Apple should modestly increase dividends by a figure near its growth rate, which they did at 15% increase to $3.05 per share. I also felt they should aggressively increase the buy back which they did from $10B to $60B. This is a smart company. Buy APPL. Cash is $145B. That's almost HALF of the $381B market cap.

Rocketman

You nailed it. Half it's 'value' in real, pure cash! $40bil per quarter cash flow with a cool 10billion in profit per. That's amazing. Double the iPad sales. Mac sales off seems right. Three quarters since the new release of the 15". Just the 13" retina update and tough times getting the iMac out. Had that been more smooth they easily could've exceeded YoY Mac sales as well. They're knocking it outta the ballpark. @ $400 the price is an absolute bargain.

Macs down iDevices up. Go figure. hehe

Not so much though. The iMac sales seems string even though the constrained supply the first 90 days post launch. Imagine the process was smoother. They should've easily met or exceeded Mac sales as well. Even though their selling less computers than iOS devices...they Mac 'section' alone is a top 200 Fortune 500 company on its own;). As is iTunes! They're kicking ass right now. They're the only PC manufacturer continuing to increase sales of actual 'computers'

Solid performance. But apple needs to show that they can put exciting new products or features on the market before share prices will move upwards. The stock price at the moment seems fair.

For not really releasing any new products this past fiscal quarter (I can only think of the 128GB iPad 4 and the spec bump on the rMBP's), I'd say they did a damn good job.

EDIT: Can't wait to see what they have in store for their Mac lines (Haswell, Mac Pro revision, etc.), iPad 5 (redesign, lighter, thinner, etc.), iPad Mini (Retina Display, etc.), iPhone 5S (who knows), AppleTV 4 (App Store?), iWatch (wearable computing is the fuuuutuuuure!)

Macs down

Actually, they're flat. Which is very impressive considering the huge drops the PC industry has seen.

If they can do this well in a quarter with no new product releases, they should be in good shape when they actually release updates.

Includes the Mini, yes. Since it resulted in strong growth in overall iPad sales, it can be safely concluded that the iPad mini is a success.

It is also part of the reasons margin are down a bit. Still things are going well.

Very true. Thus my guidance of $525 share price for the next year/12 months.

why are gross margins down? are suppliers raising prices now?

Probably selling less 32 gb iPhones and 64 gb iPads and more of the low end memory models. The biggest margins come from those $100 price bumps to add a bit of larger flash memory. If you are still buying an iPhone 4, you aren't going to buy it with a larger flash memory for an extra $100 (if that option is even available, I don't know that it is). Same thing for iPad Mini, less likely to bump its price by $100 to add memory than for an iPad.

But, but, but I thought they said Apple is doomed since they don't have a 10000000 inch iPhone or REAL innovation. Smh.

Great job beating expectations, Apple. I can't wait until I hear these analysts response. They will flip it somehow.

Everything in the release beat the Street except for the guidance, which unfortunately is what the Street cares about most. :(

That said, this should tell analysts that Apple is pretty good at predicting its revenue and margins.

The lower stock price is a blessing for Apple. They can really snag a bucket of their stock back at 1/2 the price. I really hope their long term plan is to basically take the company private. The laws and reporting regulations are just a drag on the company.

They'll latch onto the low guidance for Q3. I.e. probably no new product releases (iPhone 5S and "cheap" iPhone) until July or August.
