You made me laugh very loud ....
People don't care about iPhone, yes, sure, they just set a new all-time quarterly records of 51 MILLIONS sold.

Nice to see people with no clue at all acting like expert traders and analyst ....

----------

Decline in iPhone sales has nothing to do with Samsung releases .... Sales decline when the new iPhone model is approaching , as usual, in July-September quarter.

----------

He just want to let you know he's going to buy a Note 3 ....

i've bought every iphone from the 3g to the 5. until the 5, it was never discounted except the week before the new one was announced.

with the 5 and 5S its being discounted by third party retailers 2 months after release as soon as the fan boys buy up their phones. you don't discount products that sell well.

the fanboys say its the retailers taking a $50 or $75 haircut to sell accessories. but then apple's gross margins are dropping and apple is saying they may drop even more

Still talking BS ... 51 MILLIONS sold in a quarter ... They sell very well, actually much better than any other smartphone on the market.

You're both right. Apple is a GREAT and very SUCCESSFUL company. But AAPL is not that great of a stock right now. I'd rather own GOOG or FB without making the point that they are better companies than Apple.

Nope.

That's just FUD. Walmart announced discounts on the 5S before it was even released. Is that because it wasn't selling well?

Again, ASP decreased by $5 YOY.

Margins are relatively stable YOY. Slight decrease due to the additional deferred revenue.

they are making lots of money but margins are dropping and growth is gone

5 years ago they never discounted the iphone. now the latest model is always on sale

I love and use Apple. These figures are good. Growth is good. BUT, their market share continues to slowly slide. Android is up a bit, WP is up a bit, iOS is down. Some of this is attributable to the cheap phones bought by kids, non tech adults (I just want a phone to call and text thanks), but it isn't a great look. It means that for every 100 sold, each year a few less are Apple. Insulating this is that smart device growth overall is up, but Apple slice is slowly eroding.

I think growth in AAPL is dependent on new product lines. Wall Street wants to see Cook prove that he can lead Apple successfully into a new market. If they are able to do that, I think we will see a big spike in the stock price.

I agree. To a point. Do you think that TVs or smart watches can be as big and profitable as iPhones? Even iPads aren't as profitable as iPhones and ASPs (margins) are declining quickly.

I think Apple will be very successful in creating new ways to watch TV and use watches but it will be very hard to duplicate the success of the iPhone from a volume and profit standpoint.

No, but I don't think a new product needs to be.

Margins have been relatively stable over the last 18 months. They are on the rise from a slight decline. In fact they have been stable for longer than that if you discount FY2012 as an outlier. (I think FY2012 was simply a perfect storm for the iPhone.)

I think Apple will be very successful in creating new ways to watch TV and use watches but it will be very hard to duplicate the success of the iPhone from a volume and profit standpoint.

Again, no need to duplicate the iPhone to be successful. At the size Apple is operating at, even single digit growth in earnings would add considerable value to the company.

(I also think that iPad growth is far from over. I think there is a lot Apple can do to make it even more of a PC replacement.)

This thread amuse me....

Yes, what the heck are people thinking, coming here discussing financials in a thread about Apple's financials... Seriously, how about some kool-aid and mindless Apple-cheering instead, ok?

Just like me, you are not able to discuss financials ... But we both know what are you really doing here

51 millions ... Without a new form factor, and without a larger display. It's not cheering ... It's just impressive.
