Apple Researching a Matte Black Finish for MacBooks

Please Apple... then do all your other products. Black standard finishes for Apple devices have been on my wishlist every year since the IIe. This would make me so much happier than the endless search for full coverage skins for all my devices that get haggard within weeks. Also significantly cheaper than aftermarket colorware services. 🤞

I loved the look of that MacBook - it's a pity it was only available as the higher-spec model.

Though I recall that the black paint scratched off easily...

Coat it with vanta black and we will never be able to find it. Very nice look.

Y'all say you want a Vantablack MacBook...but if you haven't ever seen Vanta in person, let me tell you it is unsettling.

The best way to describe it is that it's like someone used the brush tool in Photoshop to black out a certain part of a picture...except this is in real life. You get absolutely no sense of depth with Vantablack no matter how close or far away you are from it.

It's a skin. They don't paint the Macs anymore. It has held up quite well. Make sure you dust the heck out of the surface before you apply the skin. The smallest speck of dust will create a bump in the final product.

I usually take the darkest finish apple offers for a given product, but I’m good with the space gray they have on the current MacBooks. I’d be happy to see the option for those who want it, but this doesn’t look as good as the space grey IMO.
