If Apple reject Intel hardware, the overheating problem is no more.
Why does the iPhones/iPods/iPads work fine without jet engine cooling? They all run on ARM hardware.

This news article is about thermals. Either stay on topic or create your own thread on your own topic. 🙄
I wasn't the one who brought M1 Macs into the discussion so maybe take your own advice before lecturing others

It seems it achieves a similar goal as the system ASUS uses in their ZenBook line (it’s called Ergolift I believe), but in a more complex way and, as much as I hate to say it, more prone to failing.
To me the main benefit isn’t the additional cooling but rather having the keyboard slightly tilted for typing.
Yup my ASUS gaming laptop has the hinge that lifts the rear of the laptop off the desk. Absolutely necessary in this case as this laptop moves a lot of air, and the air intakes are on the bottom of the laptop.

We haven't even seen the more powerful M something based laptops yet, how can anyone use the lowest performance M1 based laptops as indicative of not needing fans. :D
Very good point, lets see what they are like when there is an equivalent to the full blown, maxed out MBP 16"....8 core i9, 64GB RAM, Radeon Pro 5600M 8GB RAM, 8TB SSD. so in the "unified RAM" world that would be 72GB RAM.

LMFAO. THIS is their solution to improper thermals in their laptops? How about not making them so asininely thin they don't need a wind tunnel to cool them down for starters?

TRUTH!!! I mean for gods sake, would a couple mm of thickness really be THAT bad of an idea??? Hell, this would also increase battery size I'm sure but allow some breathing room everywhere else.

Then again, worrying about this with M1 chips inside is kind of pointless. Thank god.

Multiple ports coming back. Feet on laptops. The touch-bar going away. Cameras protruding on the iPhones. Touch ID making a comeback... WTF is happening?

Design is all going to hell in a handbasket since Jony Ive left Apple...

Most girls like thinner laptops.

Multiple ports coming back.
Good.

Feet on laptops.
Yes, a bit weird.

The touch-bar going away.
ABOUT EFFING TIME MAN!!!! Touch bar is TRASH!

Cameras protruding on the iPhones.
Non-issue.

Touch ID making a comeback.
Good.

Jony Ive was useless for everything except making things look pretty. All of the devices Apple sells are tools, not fashion statements. They're supposed to be practical and functional.

It's also true that more efficient cooling means being able to push performance even harder. For a MacBook Pro it makes sense to squeeze out performance the most.

I am classifying this under "patents we don't actually mean to use, but to prevent others to do it"...

This sounds like something designed for a MacBook with Intel processors, not the cool Apple Silicon chips.

Maybe Intel will work with Apple again! /s
That might come as a surprise to you, but Apple's chip aren't magic. They have to abide to the same physical laws Intel does. And that means the generation of heat when they perform at high levels. Apple's chips has a better performance/heat ratio than Intel's, but that does not mean they don't produce significant amounts of heat at all.

The current M1 MBP and Mac mini already show that the Apple CPU can get very hot when pushed to the limits. This will only get worse when the expected high-performance 16" MBPs will come out with more powerful versions of the Apple CPU.

fanless MacBook Pros?🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ G4 Cube flash backs.

look Apple, make Apple AIR razor thin and fanless. Make MacBook PROs thick, with ports, fans, and GPU!

EVERYONE HAPPY!

I already have a set of slick-looking kickstand feet on my MacBook Pro and it's a life-changer. I bought them from Amazon for like $10.

Is it just me or does the new keyboard design in the pictures look messed up?

(God I hope people know I'm kidding.)

If Mac Pro wheels cost $700, then deployable feet should only add a couple thousand.

that is why I put my 16 inch MacBookPro upside down into the Satechi Stand. Improves circulation and let's my MacBook run quiet with an external display.

I lose however any possibility to do touch-id, which is painful.

Everyone frustrated, is more like it.

What we all want, but don't realize it:
Make Apple AIR razor thin and fanless and very cheap, then use it as a thin client wirelessly connected to a new portable Mac Mini with optimal thermal design, ports, fans, and GPU. Gets the hot CPU and HDMI cables off our laps, but still have all the power on our laps.

They should be researching why it gets so hot in the first place. This is a long standing problem.

One solution , lure everyone onto M1.

It's dealing with the past that's the problem But that's not ideal either... And i gess no one wants to wait 'that' long
