I don't really see the appeal of a folding phone. Moving parts break. The screen will scratch more easily, than just having a glass, defeating the purpose. The industrial design of a phone hasn't changed much since the original iPhone. "Black rectangle with a touch screen". Apple cant keep selling you a new phone every year, so they have new products like watches and AirPods. Soon perhaps glasses. But a folding screen? I guess its a neat bit of engineering, but it seems like a solution looking for a problem.

This feels like a search for a faster horse to me.

Stop focusing on phones and move onto what's next. I think we're likely just a few years from not holding displays anymore - we'll move to wearing the display on our face for awhile, and then we'll move from that into brain implants.

Shatterproof and bendable screens won't matter then.

Having an external device - an iPhone with a totally blank face - might make sense still, for touch events and whatnot. The AR can just project whatever edge to edge display onto the surface.
You've been watching too much Black Mirror buddy. 😆

Funny you say this as I remember the same type of comments when Apple were making and promoting small phones, and most Apple lovers were rubbishing the large screen phones from people like Samsung.
and on AMOLED screens as well...LCD is better than AMOLED 🤣
