Thus the major reason I'd want an iPhone Pro, is basically for the prestige and perception. Which, I might add, is not a trivial factor. As they say, clothes maketh the man. First impressions. And so on.
This is honestly shocking to me. That people could think like this in 2022. I can’t even relate to this at all. I buy things I want exclusively for my own personal benefit. I couldn’t give a damn what other people think. And even if they did I’ll tell them to go hit the bricks.

I guess credit is due for admitting something so “trivial” and vain but, man, I’ll tell you, I can understand it on any level.

No kidding. I have no idea why someone would buy a refurbished iPhone that’s 2 years old with only a 90 day warranty for a whopping 15% off the current price for the current generation iPhone, and possibly the next generation iPhone in about 2 months. This is a horrific “deal.”
Apple refurbished has the same one year warranty, and same access to AC+, as new.

I'm not going to say if this is valid thinking or not because I don't know the circles you run in; however, at this point no no one will know if you have a 12 Pro unless you tell them.

I think your decision to spend the money on experiences with your son is smarter.

Cheers.

I keep wanting to buy myself an iPhone 13 Pro, but then think, hmmm, I could take myself and my son for a 2 week all expenses holiday to Bali for that money. So I keep sticking with my SE2. The Bali trip is in planning.
Still rocking a XS Max and have almost convinced myself to wait for the 15 (usb-c). Enjoy the trip!

2 people to Bali for $999? Where can I find that deal? I think 1 flight might cost that much.

15% off a device that is 2 years old, and about to be 2 iPhone generations behind is not a good deal.
For you and other like minded people, it's not a good deal.

For other people, it's a relative good deal, esp. those who don't want to pay or don't need the most current model, iPhone 13, or even the upcoming iPhone 14.
It's good enough for most people's needs.

Apple guarantees the refurbished iPhones it sells... "Covered by Apple’s one-year limited warranty" as it does to all its refurbished iPhones and AppleCare is also available.

Why does this topic have to repeat itself senselessly every time a refurbished iPhone comes out by Apple? Everyone has different needs and finances. Not everyone needs or can afford the latest iPhone as many just want one that works for them. To each their own.

According to Apple's website... refurbished iPhone are "Covered by Apple’s one-year limited warranty".

It's not a difficult concept to understand.

There will always be new phones. While the same could be said about trips, it’s the fun times that aren’t guaranteed. Go to Bali!

Also the regular Joe isn't as invested as people in this forum, they're most likely not aware a new phone is coming out this September.

Yet… commenters and posters somehow think regular people seek out their opinions. I know they don’t seek mine.

I bought my Mac mini (late 2018) refurbished. Not only do you get the one year warranty, it’s eligible for AppleCare. My extended ran out this year, but Apple is offering yearly for this model at $34.99. Still might wait for the M3. My first Intel Mac wasn’t until the MacBook (2008) with Core 2 Duo.

I’m on 13 pro, I realize the current gen, but this might be the first year I don’t upgrade. I’m not getting a new phone until usbc is included.

There is a mistake somewhere because $759 is closer to 25% off.. which really is a good value for this phone

I upgraded from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 13 Pro a few months ago and somewhat regret it. I admittedly don't use my phone a lot since I work from home but aside from the ProMotion display I really don't notice any difference. The camera quality is a bit better, but I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference for most photos compared to the iPhone 11's photos. Instead I should have just replaced the battery on my iPhone 11 for $99 and held on to it for a couple more years.

Go on the vacation!

TIL an all expenses Bali trip for two costs $999…

Just got a brand new iPhone 13 Pro 256GB yesterday for $959 after $140 trade-in of old iPhone SE2 (from Apple directly).

So $100 more and you get a brand new iPhone 13 Pro instead of refurb 12 Pro.

Just hold onto that feeling two years from now when you get the itch again. I went 5s to 11 pro with a battery swap to tide me over. Plan to do the same with this device, still feels like a good year away from needing that new battery. You save money and you save yourself that feeling of why did I even do this? These phones stay useful for ages. Hope you do something fun with the money you save next time.

Some people like a deal. I had the 12 pro max and hated the size so I was debating the 13 mini or just a smaller 12 pro.

The mini came up on a deal and I got it. No regrets. I love this size. Never want a normal sized phone again.
I'm tired of a bigger phone and want to go back to something smaller. The thing is I'm unsure of how Apple is going to manage the refresh in Oct. Are they going to kill the mini totally? Will they keep the 13 mini as the default smaller option even though it doesn't sell well? Will stock be reduced in price to liquidate it or will they keep the price the same knowing it's of limited supply? Buying used is always an option too hence my used price comment.

It does amaze me that pricing for upper level phones is the same or above that of an actual computer. It never used to be like this and feels almost backward. Pricing for refurb Airs is $850 on Apple.com. A 13 Pro iPhone is $1,000. I have a hard time justifying this and spending that much money. For a phone.

Yeah exactly this. Hoping I can get 5-6 years from this 13 Pro, with a battery swap around year 3.

Agreed. With the deals out there you can get a 13 pro close to this cost if not less is you're good with the carrier deals.

12 Pro has gone down as one of the worst deals of iPhone history. What was so “pro” about it compared to the regular 12? They were pretty much the same phone, except one had stainless steel. Oooh.

13 Pro with the 120hz at least has a reason for the name and price.

Compared to the base 12, the base 12 Pro came with double the SSD, 2GB more RAM, and better cameras.

After taxes on the $759, you’re basically almost at the price of the current flagship model. $759 is far higher than anyone would be asking for a used device, could probably save a couple hundred dollars by avoiding this Apple ‘deal.’
