Why would you gather at an Apple Store? That’s such a random idea and never even occurred to me.

„Hey bro. Wanna hang today? Sure. Let’s mEet at 4 pm at the Apple Store, i haven’t seen you in a while!“

Also I agree that it has gotten worse. You check in and they just tell you to wait with no idea if they have forgotten about you or not. It’s worse than sitting at a waiting room at the doctors office. Why don’t they just give you a number or a buzzer and when it’s your turn you get informed via display at the store or the gadget buzzing
I agree, it’s one of the dumbest ideas ever. It’s a store, not a food court. I want to go in, get my computer or phone fixed, or buy a new one, and walk out. I don’t wanna be waiting around all day watching demo videos and ads and whatever else they’re talking about. If I want to see tutorials on how to use different apps on my computer, I’ll just look it up on YouTube. I don’t need a store session or whatever.

Exactly, lol. This idea is among the dumbest I’ve ever heard and it seems to have backfired. Shocking! I’ve stopped enjoying going to the Apple store to buy things and buy online now. The flagship store here in Chicago is the new layout and it’s a cluster more often than not. Why would I ever want to just gather at an Apple store. Glad Angela’s gone.

Recently hosted an exchange student, one of a whole crew from a French university. They had planned group activities and tours, one of which was something like: John Hancock, the Bean, Apple Store, Art Institute, etc.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's a f***ing tourist site.

I wouldn't go to that one for anything. Hell, I haven't been to the Lincoln Park store in at least 3 years, and it was already a retail "Burning Man" then; Oakbrook less so, but equally challenging to navigate. Too bad. They used to be worth the trip.

Resurrect Jobs!

I just imagine him saying how his stores are disgusting AF and firing Cook and Angela on spot.

IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH! YOU HAVE 24 HOURS TO FIX IT.

Gosh, I miss Steve.

You can bet that the phone is the crux of the issues. Get the damn phone and its accessories out of the store; let BestBuy and the tel services sell and service (swap) the phone.

Groan. What does he have in mind? The Apple Church?

He must be referring to the fact that they have workshops there… Still its pretty lame of him to say that. Out of touch.

I haven't had any problems when making an appointment ahead of time. Walk in, get in seen in a few minutes and walk out.

When I randomly walk in to buy a cable or something it takes way too long. The first person who looks like they can check me out usually can't so someone else gets called over.

They really should just let me scan the accessory with my phone and pay right there.

That is exactly what you’ve been able to do (scan your item using the Apple Store app) for about 4 years now, as long as your item is under $200. It’s never taken me more than 5 minutes to purchase any small item or accessories with this self-checking out option, even when the store is crazy busy as they usually are. The only downside of this option is that you can only scan one item at a time...

Other than the store is always packed, each visit to the Tucson Az Apple Store is a positive experience.

I get my problem resolved quickly, if that is why I am there or I can buy my gizmo fast & easy.

Little room for improvement...

You walk in to the Apple Store ready to drop a couple of grand and you know exactly what you want. The website tells you the store has the items in stock. Someone stops you at the door and ask can they help, you tell them and they put your name on a list. They send you to a table to take a seat on one of their hard ass stools. Then you wait and wait while watching employees walk around aimlessly. Your bad back and hemorrhoids are not enjoying this experience at all on the harass wooden stool but you don't move afraid employees will lose you in the crowd. After 30 minutes someone ask if you are Mr.******. "Why yes I am and by the way my ass and hemorrhoids are killing me" on this harass stool. Ok sir I'll have someone here to help in just a minute. Fifteen minutes later you have to pee so you go take care of business. As you walk out of the restroom you spot someone has taken your harass stool. You then realize the items you wanted to purchase can wait for another day or week or month, well maybe next year.

What she did to the stores was appalling. I'm very glad she's moved on. The stores are crowded and confusing. Why would anyone think turning an electronics store into a "social gathering" place is a good idea? Why do people continually try to shoehorn their latest great idea onto something that clearly doesn't fit? All that speaks to is her ego and nothing else.

This rings so true with me!

I hate that there is no till to queue and pay at. Hate all the staff wandering aimlessly.

The last straw was when I tried to buy an iTunes gift card. I had to speak to FIVE members of staff! Absolutely, utterly ridiculous. It was the exact opposite of what Apple used to be known for: ease of use.

Don't get me started on the appearance of the staff...
This also. They need some kind of dress code for the place. I don't mind people being creative and expressive, but really, it's still a job and there should be at least a moderate level of professionalism in their appearance. It does not inspire confidence when the employee has a pink mohawk a foot high on top of his head wearing 25 beaded bracelets on both arms.

Deleted my post due to it inducing unintended anger.

I’ve only had great experiences in Apple stores. Even when I had to get my daughters faulty Xr replaced. I can see it though.

Ugh I had to wait 45 Minutes at Apple Southland (which needs to relocated) just to ask questions about the latest iMac. Lucky for me I have patience. I must admit the one at Chadstone is not too bad but again I had to wait ages just to purchase an Apple TV.

In Tim Cook's push for diversity, Apple store staff with all sorts of tattoos, body piercing has started to appear...

Is that an issue? I mean, I see more and more people around me with tattoos all over their body and I feel that it’s not as stigmatised as before.

Were I not a teacher, I might probably have gotten one or two myself.

It took me 40 minutes to pick up an Apple Watch I ordered last year. Nobody could find my order.

They had me sit next to a person who was with a Genius for... a broken Apple Watch!

my last purchase at apple store was last summer the new MBP. the staff keeps asking me to buy the apple care and told me it shall be purchased within 14 days with mac....lol. he must think that i am a new guy for apple product.

I've never once been confirmed by any employee when paying with the app. I'm always paranoid that someone will think I'm shoplifting so I just leave the app open to prove that I just paid. lol

Very strange, maybe some stores do not confirm purchase on exit. It's similar to when exiting Costco or Sam's Club, etc where someone checks your receipt. Or maybe I am being discriminated against o_O

I will assume that you are right that the employees were never allowed to show up with BO in the first place. But BO can develop over the hours. If the BO came from other customers that is not necessarily Apple's responsibility. But I never said Apple caused the BO before. I just said that the BO is reduced now, whether this was done on purpose or coincidental. Also, I did walk out when the BO was really bad before. But I can make it comment about it can't I? I can just as easily say that if you didn't like my comment, you could have ignored it instead of replying to it.

No doubt about it that some people may develop a BO problem over the course of their shift, in those cases management usually approaches them and advises them to correct the issue for future shifts. Some people are not aware that they have a BO problem. Why ignore it, I would not mind someone informing me that, my BO is on the strong side, I will get the hint and try to correct it. If I am left in the dark, I will not know any better and continue my merry way. In a similar fashion I could have ignored your comment, however preferred to shed some light on other aspects of the issue. ;):)

I‘ve been expecting (and demanding) that since the first store opened... :(

Once :apple:TV+ goes live, you can sit at the community Apple Centre *cough*Store*cough* and enjoy the just announced Apple Coffee brew. :p

Yep, very frustrating when they have employees that do nothing but put me on a wait list for another employee who takes my order and then I still have to wait for a third employee to bring an Apple TV out of the back.

I miss the stools at the display computers - grab a coffee head over to Apple pull up the chair do up some emails check out some websites....

When the new Macbook Air came out, I went to the Apple Store located in Southpoint shopping mall in NC. I told one staff I would like to buy one, she pointed me to another one while she is not serving any customer. Then I asked a guy, he told me very unpolitely that I have to wait for 2 hours to be served. This is unacceptable, I am not buying a newly launched iphone and the store was not busy at all. Then I went to a Bestbuy nearby, two staff helped me to answer my questions and get laptop to me, without waiting for a single minute.

This is not the Apple store I used to remember.

Rather than play the blame game. It’s more important that Apple rethink their current retail strategy. Customers want and deserve well trained employees that are only to happy to work for Apple and not anything less
Employee moral translates into good or mediocre customer service
