"...the removal of the neck lanyard from the employees' standard retail uniform."

Without these ID badges, the employees can make-up names and have no accountability to their overall customer service standards.

I think this is a bad decision. :apple:
I think this is the point.

the removal of the neck lanyard from the employees' standard retail uniform. The lanyard badge holders are distinctive to Apple and issued to current employees, but without the lanyard there will be more emphasis on employees introducing themselves to customers.

I wish they did introduce themselves to the customers. I always have to ask for someone at the Apple store. I get good service when I ask, but without the lanyard it will be harder to spot the free employee I can chat to so I can buy what I need to.

This IS a bad idea. The only solution is if the new shirts scream "I AM AN APPLE EMPLOYEE". If they do not, I'll have to search them out in the crowded store. And searching out store employees is something I am forced to do in other stores, going to Apple should be a way to get away from this. If Apple forces me to do this then Apple might lose my business and I'll go to a reseller to get what I need.

Free employee?!? You'll have better luck finding a dodo.

Holidays are typically so busy that there is no such thing as a free employee. Even if someone looks free that person is likely a manager or "on point" who can't get wrapped up in convo. Or that "free" employee walking across the room is trying to go on a lunch break that legally should gave been 20 minutes ago, get back to his two other transactions, is any inventory "runner" (who also can't get into a convo) and so on.

There was a time when the shirts were slightly different colors (royal blue for sales, dark blue for non) but that was dumped for their "one store, one team" mentality. Along with the fun sayings.

My point exactly. That's why we need the lanyards on the staff so we know who to wait by so when they are done with one customer we can quickly catch them. I'm still on the fence if this new Retail VP has what it takes to do the job as good as Ron did it.

Nope. Because there is a list and if you just stand by a staff member they will tell you "go talk to that person to get on the list" and then go take someone who has been waiting.
