Surprising, since Norway's economy has always been pretty good. Isn't Oslo and Stavanger among the top 10 most expensive cities in the world?
Exactly!
Just a couple of weeks back Oslo was ranked #1 most expensive city in the world - AGAIN - and our economy sure have not been hit that hard during the last years recession.

Oslo most expensive city in the world
The world's most expensive city is ...
‘Most expensive’ yet again

Obviously not enough for Apple to take the risk opening a store up here.

I don't know about Europe, but it's getting that way in the US.
Ok, I am with you!
Its understandable that they, as a US based company, focus most on the US market. But I still find it strange they do not expand into new territories, where there quite obvious is a rather large demand.

Id rather drive past Northlake and go to Southpark, I dont have to bring my pistol with me there. the mall was nice back in the day too bad they let it thug out

(NC is also a CCW state)

 WOW! Really?!

I end up having to go to Northlake once a week, and haven't managed to catch it anymore 'thugged out' than most malls. Back in the day would have meant Eastland Mall, but since they cannibalized any real commerce on Charlotte's east side & have been doing construction on Independence for what seems like almost a decade, you have to expect to see some traffic move to other areas.

Also the CCW comment was none to comforting following that either.

Any perception that somehow Southpark mall is that much safer, may not be completely correct.

But if you'd rather drive past Northlake to Southpark, more power to you.

With the prominence of a two additional outdoor malls, featuring many mid level restaurants, a nearby Target's & Best Buy, Northlake is a higher traffic area for a greater variety of consumers. This promotes more grocery shopping & everyday consumer electronic purchases, than Southpark's abundance of high clothing & restaurants that dominate there. I think what's happened to Northlake is it's become the 'regular' mall of the area, and not the high end opposite of South Park that some imagined it to be.

CCW?

I don't think Northlake is as high-end as was originally planned but I do think it's second only to Southpark in metro-Charlotte. I would have loved to see a store open in Birkdale, 7 miles north of Northlake.

All thanks to North Sea oil. Norway didn't have 2 nickels to rub together after the Nazi occupation.

Apple had better get a few stores there before the oil runs out ;)

Pretty soon? Doubtful...
McDonald's have 71 stores in Norway. How many do you think Apple have? Zero, none, 0

A long way to go.

But hey! You can always go to you nearby Apple store in Swed... no? Finl... no? Well, I guess we scandinavians can always travel to Germany if we want to shop at Apple Store. :D There's one in Hamburg, only 1500 kilometers away from Helsinki - a quick 36 hour drive there and back.

Yeah, Norway, Sweden, Finland... we're just way too small market areas compared to much more populated countries like Germany, UK, Italy. But it'd be great to have at least a small store in Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo.

Yeah, but we're RICH! You'd think that would count for something, lol... :p

Boo! Why did Charlotte get another one when don't have have any in Asheville? There are TONS of Mac users in Asheville, plus the central location in Western North Carolina would draw the college users from Western Carolina University and Appalachian State in addition to UNC-A here in Asheville. There's now 2 in Charlotte, one each in Durham, Greensboro, and Raleigh. Those are all in the central part of the state and the closest, Charlotte, is over 2 hours from Asheville! We have to go to Greenville, SC to go to an actual Apple Store and that's over an hour away. We have at least two great computer shops here that sell and service Macs but it's not the same as an Apple Store! :apple:

Just a pic of some "thugging out" at the Northlake opening this morning

We went to the Little Rock opening today. The store is fantastic, and one of the largest and nicest Apple Stores I've been to (I've been to Chicago - Michigan Ave, St Louis - West County, Memphis - Saddle Creek and Nashville - Green Hills and San Antonio - La Cantera).

It was as neat experience, although I did wonder exactly how the workshops are going to work since it doesn't have a theater. The Genius Bar was huge.

A Flickr user posted some pics:

This is awesome! I HATE going to South Park Mall in Charlotte. Way too uppity for me.

Ya.. I live 1 exit off I-77 from Northlake so it will be so much closer! I saw a couple months ago when they started making the Apple store there so I was estatic!

Ya... I always thought Birkdale would be the best place for an Apple store.. (also since it is 1 minute from my house).. Northlake will have to do.
