According to Apple extended holiday return policy, I had until Jan 8 to initiate a return. I did that on Jan 7, got a return # and label, dropped it off at my local fedex on the 8. Today when I check the return status, it says Apple return has expired? I called/chatted 1-800-Myapple multiple times today and they could not give me a straight answer on why. One support told me it was the apple give back trade in, that cancelled the return, others told me to call phobio, 1800aplcare, etc. Anyone has or had this problem and had it resolve? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

More info
*iPhone Xr purchased on Dec 20 through apple.com
*Received on the 21

If you’ve already dropped off the phone and have confirmation then you’re fine. It will be processed once they receive it.

Thanks for the reply, I hope my refunds go through when it gets deliver back to Apple. Btw, they said the XR can't be returned back to me when it gets delivered to them.

Yes. This is true. You can’t get it back once it’s in their hands.

They supposedly cancelled my return, but the refund still came through. Kept receiving the (we haven’t received your phone) email. I think Phobio is overwhelmed.

That is strange. If you initiated the return label on the 7th. You would have till the 21st for Apple to receive it. But strange that it expired early. When you dropped it off to Fedex, did you ask for a receipt with tracking? If so, have you tracked your tracking? Typically it should take only a day or two for Apple warehouse to receive your return package and only then process the return once they open up your package. Plus I don't think it's from phobio because it's your XR that you are returning not the trade in device correct?

I've had this happen to one of my returns where the order page still says "Please send this item back to Apple". I use deliveries app to track and the fedex tracking stated that it has been delivered and was signed by one of the receiver at the warehouse. I waited 2 days, as it's possible that they may have high volumes of returns, but typically they try to process on the day they receive it. So after two days, no change, I chatted with Apple, was instructed to wait a couple more days. So I did wait for couple more days and chatted with apple online and explain the situation. They opened up a ticket to send the refund team to investigate. After few days though, I got the same message as you got, but then I got an e-mail from the refund team that they are going to proceed with the refund to my original card used.

This!

I had the same email saying they haven’t received it when fedex tracking showed Phobio received it. After a few calls to Apple, they said Phobio is swamped with trade-in program and are back-logged in updating their receipt confirmation.

Yes I dropped it off at FedEx and got a receipt. It's due for delivery today so hopefully it gets processed. Its the XR I purchased from apple online and not my trade in device. Did you chat with my apple or with a different #?

Since it's not the trade in device then disregard the other post mentioning phobio and no clue that the apple CS is saying on the phone. For me I always chat with Apple and never had an issue. As long as you have a receipt with tracking that you dropped it off, you should be fine.

*Update*

Got the refund for my XR return and also got the full estimate $200 trade in for the 6s I traded in. All is good, thanks for the replys. :D
