i got a pair of wireless beats headphones for $100 with a macbook purchase recently. this is a promotion because they normally cost much more.

however, i am thinking of returning my macbook because it only has 1 port, which is super annoying. my question is, do i need to return the pair of beats headphones, too? what is apple's return policy on the headphones?

thanks!

You don't need to return them. You paid a discounted rate yes but you've paid for them.

hm, so another question.. if i had opted for the free wired beats headphones (instead of paying $100 for the wireless upgrade) would i still get to keep them? or, since i didn't pay for them, i would need to return them?

Nope 'free' and 'gift' items do not need to be returned unless stated.

There was a thing a while back with best buy selling a Sony hifi with a free MP3 player. People were buying and returning to get the mo3 player free. Best Buy couldn't do anything about it because if it's classed or worded as a gift then it's just that.

You will have to return the Beats regardless of which ones you got, as it states in the fine print ;)

From Apple Website:

*** Buy a new iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or Mac Pro, including configure-to-order versions of such products (“Mac”), and elect to receive either: (i) 1 pair of Beats Solo2 On-Ear headphones (Gloss Black, Gloss White, Gloss Red, Gloss Blue, Gloss Grey, or Gloss Pink), for which an instant credit in the amount of $219.95 will be applied to your order; or (ii) 1 pair of Beats Solo2 Wireless On-Ear Headphones (Space Grey, Silver or Gold), for which an instant credit in the amount of up to $219.95 will be applied to your order.

If your Mac is returned without your promotional Beats headphones, your refund will be reduced by the full purchase price of such headphones. Offer subject to availability. If your promotional Beats headphones are returned for any reason and is not exchanged for another equivalent set of Beats headphones, such headphones must be returned with your Mac in order to receive a full refund.

Apple covered there butts nicely. I was looking for that document but couldn't. Glad they covered there rear

You can keep the beats, but they take the difference of the price off the return. So you still end up paying full price for them...

I returned mine, but the employee said I can keep it. I asked if he was sure they won't adjust the return amount and he said no. When I looked at my refund receipt it shows the full amount being credited back to my account.
