I would imagine that this will come with the software update.

Well, I've only seen the contact search function on iPhone 2.0. I don't think the contact pictures are included. Probably because most people don't have pictures for most of their contacts. I have pics for most contacts. If you somehow can't take the picture yourself, Google and social networks are handy for that.

thinking about whether or not using the mobileme service i have the following problem:

i really love gmail's "don't delete anything" philosophy and would like to use my gmail account in the future.
now i think this would only be possible if imap would be build right into mobileme, what probably isn't the case.
at the moment i'm syncing google cal to ical and that via itunes to my ipod touch. if i'm creating a new event it gets syncened to ical, but not to google cal as this works only one way.
even worse is the adress book situation as gmail doens't offer any sort of dynamic api (export all contacts every day is a joke).

Anyone else find it annoying how MobileMe has a very consistent, but DIFFERENT interface to OS X?

Note:

I wish Apple would sort out Leopard, Aqua is clearly dead looking at their apps. Yet it remains for the buttons and scrollbars in Leopard.
