Pretty remarkable that Heads Up is still so popular (and still fun!). Though I opened it over Thanksgiving to play with family and it took me like 5 minutes to figure out how to get past the fullscreen ad and actually play the game.

The only thing annoying about apps with ads is using the workarounds to get past the ads. But that is still so much faster.

interested to know the demographic of temu users are, can't all be billionaires right?

My friend and her husband often order random things from Temu. They aren't billionaires, but are in the 7-8 digit range. She recently ordered a huge box (like a microwave would come in) of melamine sponges and gave me a bunch since no one could ever them all.

Going back to the above list, StarDew valley is surprising since it's been out for years. I've played it on the Switch and didn't even know it was on iOS. Only one I've downloaded is Gmail, because I gave up on the default mail app...it just sucks.

Apple Reveals Most Downloaded Apps and Games of 2024
I wish they’d reveal all downloaded apps, not just most. Those are pretty short lists for “most”, though.

I think the most interesting (well, only interesting) thing about lists like this is the way people pontificate about their devices on places like MacRumors versus how the aggregate actually uses their devices.

Apps by Google and Meta dominate.

Most of the games listed offer IAPs.

Most of the apps listed offer subscriptions.

Social media apps, particularly TikTok, are well represented.

Most streaming services, particularly Netflix, are well represented.

A reminder that places like this are clubby and welcoming, and also echo chambers.

Am I missing something, why Shadowrocket is at the top of the paid apps? What is so special about this app, what people are using it for? It seems like such a technical tool, VPN/capture traffic, feels too geeky to be on top of the paid apps. So my guess it is a common use for something else, that people use with the tutorials, etc. Anyone know what is it?

Wouldn't "all downloaded apps" be a list, like, hundreds of thousands of apps long? Or am I misunderstanding your question?
You’re not misunderstanding. I’m taking a jab at the title, which should have said “most-downloaded” with a hyphen.
