Hard pass. If this can't be completely disabled, I will never buy another Apple product. I refuse to deal with Google's anti-privacy/anti-consumer policies.

I feel much better them working with Google then OpenAI thats for sure!! At least Google has a strong foundation of working with Enterprise customers and not having any access to those customers data. I trust Google way more then Sam Altman or Zuck or Elon, etc... Apple made the right choice that is for sure!

Imagine being a company so incompetent that you have to rely upon your largest competitor to power your features.

At what point do you just buy an Android device instead?

Cook has truly ruined Apple.

Well, without this agreement Apple would probably need another 2 to 3 years of investment to catch up to Google/OpenAI 2026 level. This is the right move for today.

Do you mix your own cement?

Apple isn’t just rebranding Gemini as theirs. They’ve used Gemini’s training platform to build their models. It’s not what you’re thinking.

Deal with the devil. Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.
I assume you are talking about the Steve Jobs who invited Eric Schmidt to the Apple Board of Directors and reportedly "lost sleep" because the Google logo on early iPhones had the wrong shade of yellow?

Looks like they will run requests:
On-device
Private Cloud Compute
Google/Nvidia

“Alongside the next generation of Apple Intelligence, today we’re expanding Private Cloud Compute (PCC) beyond Apple’s data centers. When Apple introduced Private Cloud Compute in 2024, we defined a new frontier for private AI inference, extending the security and privacy of Apple devices into the cloud for those AI workloads more complex than on-device models can handle. Now, we are collaborating with Google and NVIDIA to run new Apple Intelligence workloads on Google Cloud, extending our industry-leading PCC privacy commitments to third-party data centers for the first time.”

Worst keynote ever. There was exactly one minute where anything useful happened, and the rest was meaningless technobabble and marketing fluff.

I was really, really hoping at the bottom of this circle they were going to put "next generation autocorrect."

I sure hope I can reset my keyboard and try autocorrect again when 27 comes out. I've had to leave it turned off every iOS version because it did far, FAR more harm than good.

The one where it could reframe a photo, and move the apparent position of the camera. This, and a full suite of AI imaging tools, needs to be built into Pixelmator Pro. It doesn't need to be anything new, just stuff that LTX and Qwen can already do on a mac, for free, if you know how to get them working.
