I dont know how to react to this but i do feel we are now one step into the future.
I am sure these kids aren't scared of the creepy eyes and the headset lol
Good god the clip with the playing kids is...saddening
I remember when Apple told me about 10 minutes before they unveiled this.
What are you going to do with it? Surround yourself with sh*tty 2002 flower petals for $2-3k? You can get real petals for much less you know

I can see this being revolutionary once it's smaller and more portable in a few generations.

I don’t want one. I don’t need virtual reality, especially at the Apple price point for this rich person toy. I’m completely satisfied with actual reality.
Great product for a first gen product. A lot of cool features and foundation set for next generations. Apple is very powerful with not being first to market but time their market entry well with software in place, APIs in place, frameworks in place for developers and so on. As well as powerful SoC. Is it niche? At the moment, of course it is! Desktops and laptops used to be niche to. Time will tell if it becomes a flop or not but it's great they are taking on Meta with their Quest. I'm a bit sad with some of the negativity over here but then, that's what MacRumors has become in the recent years - nothing is good enough.
I just can't get past the tether cord and battery pack. Nope.
Wearing them to capture special moments with kids looks like a dystopian nightmare. Yikes.

I could give them a pass on the software. They don't know what people are going to want to do with it yet and it's in its infancy.
However, the hardware design is so underwhelming. Are we sure Ive worked on this? Clunky.
And who has all these "special moments" to make a device like this worthwhile? I take a lot of [bad] pictures. Are there some good ones once in awhile? Sure, but most people won't have a library of Live Photos they want to view over and over again to make this worthwhile.
