So... will Taylor let Apple stream her Album?

I hope so. I bought a couple of tracks from it. I get holding it out for maybe a period of six months just like movie studios do with theater release before VOD/BD release. But it's been at least six months. Give us our Tay Tay.

Does anyone know what exactly Apple is going to pay artists during the free trial period?

Good for the musicians...I hope enough of them refused to comply to Apple's demands to make this happen.

In this case Taylor Swift and indie artists expressed concerns, Apple thought about it and decided to change course. It shouldn't be a surprise that Apple listened to feedback, it may be a surprise that they changed their minds so quickly, either way it's no surprise that some artists expressed concerns. And, whilst it's unlikely that Apple would have changed course if it was just Taylor Swift complaining, she is, like it or not, heavily influential within the industry and as such her words carry weight.

Bottom line, Apple is used to playing David, clearly the role of Goliath is something they're going to have to work on.

Eddy didn't want to be the subject of a Taylor Swift breakup song on her next album. LOL

So completely tonedeaf on the part of Apple. What the hell are they paying Jimmy Iovine for if not to help them avoid stepping in a hot steaming pile of artist social media? SMH

Iovine and Dre are being paid just for an appearance of credibility. They've been sucked into Apple's reality distortion field along with the U2 (now U TOOL) wankers. None of them are being paid to think or even talk... Iovine probably got a raise after WWDC as long as he never talks in public again.

Wow! Taylor swift just intimidated a multi-billion dollar company in to doing something!

Intimidated is the wrong choice of words ! Artist voiced their opposition, support and opinions and Apple listens !! Bravo!!!! This is going to make this music venture take off !

Siri has amazing potential.. but it has gone no where in the last 2 years! Just wished it did so much more...

and I have a huge list of grips with Itunes, alas this isn't the time to share.

I say "read text" to both Google Now and Siri. One responds that it isn't supported yet.

Guess which.

Hey, I offered free meals to customers in my restaurant for 3 months and I am not paying salary or vendor costs for the same time period! Is there anything more dictator-like ?

We've all just seen the devious side of the vaunted Tim Cook running Apple. Tim's obviously learned a couple tricks from China while touring there.

I don't think it was a pre-planned PR stunt. There had been a lot of discussion about the issues involved between high profile Apple writers yesterday. Gruber published some blog entries about it, Rene Richie did the same on iMore. There were several heated threads on Twitter on Sunday. Taylor Swift nodded in agreement with some of these posts to further highlight the dissenting opinions.

Cue and some other execs probably saw all this snowballing, did some napkin calculations on what they were saving by zero rating royalty payments to artists, and quickly determined this was not worth taking the pain over. Tim Cook agreed (after having the numbers further scrutinised) and green lighted Cue putting out the message tonite - we are paying artists.

Right now they are probably cursing missing this detail on royalties during trial when putting together the deals. But it's not surprising the bulk of the attention was on subscriptions, foregoing revenue for 90 days. Because that's were the bulk of the money is earned and paid out.
This post is an oasis in a desert of stupid.

Now Apple has to step up their negotiaton skills and convince all the labels to let Apple stream the entire iTunes catalogue. That would be a colossal plus for me, since Spotify is missing some great artists and complete discographies.

Don't say, that Apple don't respond to public opinion.

Really...?

Millions complained about how Jony Idiot's crappy Yosemite UI blinded consumer with the lack of contrast and extremely bright background, and yet Apple did not respond and still came out with the same crappy UI on El Crapitan...

Now I'm saying it, Apple don't respond to public opinion lest you're public figure...

This whole turn of events was a pre planned masterly crafted advertising move/strategy by apple. Can't pay for publicity like this ;) so many more will now use apple music.

Business lesson 101 by apple. Planned and exe'cue'ted perfectly.
