A part of me is believing that Apple and Taylor Swift pull together and caused this stir. First, there's no way that she could have Apple change their mind that quickly and speak to all the at the labels and change the contract terms and have all that done in 24 hours. Her letter being put out as of yesterday then Apple changing their mind makes me think this was a planned jab at Spotify.
If this was all a big PR stunt it sure doesn't make me think better of Apple. Apple should be involved stunts like this (assuming it was a stunt).

So Apple caves. Why go down this path in the first place if you're going to cave so easily? Makes me think there was much bigger outcry than Taylor Swift and some indie labels/bands. Eddy Cue must have been getting an earful behind the scenes. So when does Tim Cook dock his pay for incompetence?
Because it means the regulators cant come back and say this is anti competitive...

It's still a possibility. Not sure why you would have a low-grade thought about Apple over it? It's all in the name of competition against Spotify.

Ooh, that's an interesting idea. I'm not sure how strong that argument would hold up, but it did seem like Apple was throwing it's weight around.

I was happy to see she was fighting for indie artist but then I was even more pissed she was gonna make Apple work on the weekend. So here we are proof Apple had to work on the weekend to please that her. Honestly Apple announced it two ****ing weeks ago, the **** was she doing then?

See ? Sometimes reacting to something leads to results. For all the apple blind-defenders out there...

Sure. Leave it to certain people here to continually crap on the company even though they did the right thing. Gotta love MR.

I commented earlier about the overwhelming negativity in this thread, but I do think it's important not to praise Apple as altruistic when their initial plan would have cheated artists. I'm glad they changed their mind, but they don't deserve a medal.

It's like when they finally acknowledged the 2011 MacBook Pro failures and started a recall program. People praised them as industry leaders and a wonderful charity when, in reality, they're just taking responsibility for a flawed product (late I might add.)

You're missing a sarcasm tag right?

Cant believe apple bowed down to a whiny singer.

She was the only platinum artist last year. Ranked 100 Most Powerful Women last year, and has $200 million in the bank at 25 years old. She's more than a whiny singer.

She's got pull. Did you not see the cast she managed to get together for "Bad Blood"? Like it or not, she is he MJ, Elvis, Beatles of this generation.

What do you know? According to Cue, it was her AND OTHERS that complained enough to make them change.

Can we not stop praising Taylor Swift like she single-handedly did this?

Not a PR stunt. This initiative is important for Apple. They need to make sure it works out of the gate, even if that means giving up some cash. They can afford to.

Good job Ms Swift!

Since you have clout (that obviously I don't) please tell Apple to let me (and other developers) opt out of Family Sharing so I can sell each copy of my app for 99 cents, instead of being forced to give away four additional copies.

Oh so now they were cheating the artist? Oh really? Then tell me sir how is it that the labels agreed to Apple's terms? That's not cheating artists. I certainly hope that you don't make any mistakes in your life and correct them and hope that people will forgive and move on. Because according to you, you deserve no amount of praise for correcting a mistake.

But that's not in the title or in the picture so most of the posters won't know that.

And they won't care. As much as some people here say they care about Indie Artists, they only came to this thread because Taylor Swift. She has some really strongly opinionated fans.

It was sleazy for Apple to even consider not paying artists to begin with. Really Tim? How much money does Apple have in the bank?

1GB RAM
Not paying musical Artists

Stay classy, Tim...

Brilliant... So now Taylor Swift will put her music on Apple Music? They've done exactly what she wanted. They'll have the only music streaming service with her onboard.
