Who else is waiting for apple to release a foldable of rollable iPhone?

I’ll be hanging onto my 12 pro max until apple enter the foldable/rollable market.

The rollable concept looks amazing, hopefully apple take this route instead of Samsung ugly foldable phone that has a huge crease running down the middle of the screen.

I have absolutely no desire for such a device. Gimmick to say the least.

Even VR is less gimmicky IMO. Although I do like seeing companies trying to push the limits and innovate. When you look at the iPhone, it's essentially the same every year. Better screens, faster processor, yep..

While I absolutely love the concept, I have a feeling that even if Apple actually did come out with anything like this... it wouldn’t be available for another 5 - 7 years from now 😕

Apple has a way of letting Android manufactures do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to bleeding edge hardware and then swooping in years after the fact once once all the kinks have been worked out and their customers have nearly given up hope (see OLED, 120hz screens, etc).

The only issue I see with phones like this is the soft screen and lack of glass protectors which could go on it. Even the “foldable glass” on the Galaxy Fold 2 has a plastic layer on top. Being able to put my phone in my pocket and not worry about small particle scratches to the screen / oleophobic coating means a lot to me.

Look at how slooooow the rolling mechanism is. It's cool for a demo, useless practicality wise. Most people wouldn't bother unrolling it.

Samsung's method makes more sense. Just use the outer display most of the time, and a simple unfolding to use the larger display when needed. No need to wait for the stupid snail pace unrolling.

I hope they don’t do anything like this. I much prefer the regular style of the smartphone not the dumb foldable ones. Never had any desire or interest for it

Your going to be hanging on to the iPhone 12 for a long time. I'm sure Apple is testing prototypes of this but I highly doubt we will see this any time soon.

How is a pocketable phone with more screen real estate a gimmick?
The amount of times I've wished my phone could suddenly become bigger is exactly 0. It's a cool trick, but I see no use for it. Plus the technology is not very durable. Could you imagine the threads on MR about this? "Fold Gate", "Hinge Gate" "Roll Gate", etc.

I think you're right, not like Tim Cook to Pay top dollar for new tech, he'll wait for the technology to mature first and become cheaper.

Poor Tim Apple has to keep his share holders happy.

Apples legendary customer service will take care of that, or a lawsuit like the iPhone 6s were the customers got $9 out of it. 😂

Similar negative comments were thrown around before Apple announced the iPhone 6 Plus. Some people simply lack the ability to think beyond their personal circumstances.
I don't think people were denying the benefit of larger phone at that time. The popularity of the Galaxy Note proved it.

Actually, if the device can "suddenly" become bigger, that's a good thing. This thing takes like 4 seconds to un-roll. It's faster to just unfold the Galaxy Fold. :D

Could change my mind but I, today, have no interest at all in either fold or roll. A plain phone is what I need for what I do

I’ve had numerous occasions where someone sends me a link to a video, or a spreadsheet or pdf attachment via email. While I have my iPhone with me, I’ll go downstairs to grab my iPad to open the file. This rollable screen may look gimmicky but i wouldn’t dismiss it so quickly.

You'll be getting the 13 Pro max this year lol
Nope, maybe 😂

Rumors are saying it’s going to be a s release this year. Most likely keep my 12 pro max for another year.

Hopefully apple release a foldable or rollable iPhone in 2022. 😁🏃‍♂️💵💵

S release but will likely have more features than we saw from 11 pro to 12 pro so really won 't feel like an S year to me
