I agree. There is a lot missing. Especially since they did not even list religious as a genre. I could find Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, but I could not find Hillsong. There is also the lack of ping, which makes it difficult for us to find album artwork for the CD albums we rip, practically the only function I used for Ping. This is the Malaysian store, btw.

Great for those countries, but still doesn't change the backwardness of the labels in terms of licensing. Internet means global distribution, yet with this digital online stores, contents are still locked into each countries'/region's stores, where users from outside the market have to jump through hoops to purchase the contents. It's like they don't want sales. God forbid more people from around the world buying their stuff legally. Ridiculous. And they wonder why people are utilizing the alternative routes.

Not so much backward as fragmented. Musical artists, in particular, might be signed to a number of different record companies depending upon the country/region, so channelling all sales via one distributor (probably the USian) would mean all the other companies losing out on sales and possibly other governments missing out on tax revenues.

If you want a global point of sale, then you are going to have to deal with a very small number of global record companies controlling ALL music sales. We are nearly there already and therein lies mediocrity and and utter lack of risk taking in favour of profit.

If iStore, including movies, just became available in your country/region, and you plan to purchase an Apple TV, make sure there is plenty of titles available in the library from start! Do not assume the amount will increase over time! Movies became available in iStore Japan in November 2010 with very few titles available initially, the situation has not improved since then! I regret my purchase of Apple TV, and can definitely not recommend it to anybody in Japan.

Complain to " Vested Interest Mafia " in JAPAN - Dentsu and JASRAC!!!!!!!!!

Japan Will Be Abandoned and Lesser Country because of Rigid and Suppressed Control over Contents Attributed by The EGO of Such MAFIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hear Korean itune music store has been in the making but having not-so-easy negotiation with copyright holders, labels and what not. they don't want to give up their current deal and accept uncertain future of getting in bed with Apple. Also big conglomates who are the seller of digital contents don't wanna share the market because they know they'll loose big chunk of profit to itunes store. anyhow one can buy many K-pops from US and canadian itunes now.

jesus, when will they separate music and movies? iTunes has become a jack of all trades, master of none. Its time to split iTunes down the middle and create a Video/Movie/TV Show management app and leave iTunes to do the Music (they can even rename iTunes, "Music" like on iOS). iTunes sucks at video management in all forms. I'd also like to see them take "apps" out of iTunes and put them into the AppStore app that they already have on OSX.

iTunes should:
Manage Music and all other Audio

Movies should:
Manage Movies, TV Shows, and all other video

iPhoto does:
manage photos, fill your hdd with 356 copies of each photo.

"Sync" should be integrated into the OS, maybe have it show up in Notification Center when someone connects a device... For more detailed management there can be a separate app or preference panel "Sync Preferences" where you can manage stuff like pages of apps in iOS and what does/doesnt sync (exact functionality iTunes sync page provides now... but simpler).

iTunes makes me furious and embarrassed because its shittiness is what PC users judge us based on due to the app existing in all of its asstastic glory on both OS's. Its an embarrassment. /rant

One of the greatest news for me today. You know we've been waiting for this for nearly a decade. This is one big nice change under Tim Cook. He is much more concerned with the Asian market than Jobs.

Hong Kong is not a state. But it can be a "country", according to the following definition:

A country is a region legally identified as a distinct entity in political geography. A country may be an independent sovereign state or one that is occupied by another state, as a non-sovereign or formerly sovereign political division, or a geographic region associated with sets of previously independent or differently associated peoples with distinct political characteristics. Regardless of the physical geography, in the modern internationally accepted legal definition as defined by the League of Nations in 1937 and reaffirmed by the United Nations in 1945, a resident of a country is subject to the independent exercise of legal jurisdiction.
Sometimes the word country is used to refer both to sovereign states and to other political entities,[1][2][3] while other times it refers only to states.[4] For example, the CIA World Factbook uses the word in its "Country name" field to refer to "a wide variety of dependencies, areas of special sovereignty, uninhabited islands, and other entities in addition to the traditional countries or independent states".[5]

plz dont play the 'definition' trick. Any word can have this or that extended meaning or broader usage in certain situations.

Also plz have a think before citing wikithing.
plz use common sense. Ever heard someone said Alaska is a country?
So simple.

We have our own olympic team, are individual members of the WTO, WHO, our own currency, legal system and independent border controls.

Yes we might share a physical border and some political connections with mainland China, but saying the two are one is like saying night and day are the one.

Ask Mr. Liang Zhenying if he is a head of a SAR goverment or a country's government.

Of course, in terms of political system as well as economic level, Hongkong SAR is a great example for mainland to learn. However, it is the country/nation's people and army who are protecting this flourish and tiny land.

Back to the topic, it's a great move for ituens to land in Hongkong.
Curious to see how the cantonese songs in iTunes would be against the widespread copyright infringement.

His name is Leung Chun Ying and his nickname is CY. He is never Liang Zhenying. Thanks.

Anyway, it's not a political forum here and our discussion should end here. Enjoy the iTunes Store folk :)
