I just updated to this new release.

No real changes in iCloud behaviour however I've noticed that OS X itself is much faster and snappier. Not sure if there are any real differences but the performance for me is notable.

Now that this integration is in place, does this mean we might get to understand a bit more how this works from a Lion UI perspective? Does iCloud appear in Finder with a folder structure just like MobileMe does? The marketing blurbs all seem to point to the "iCloud is the OS" type of vagueness but I want confirmation there is still some folder structure there.

If I had 100+ x-type files I wanted in iCloud (and x-type IOS app supported iCloud document sync for these files) how will those files appear in the IOS version of the app? It won't be one big-a$$ list of all your iCloud files will it? I'd just like some validation that you can drill down within your iCloud to different sub-folders, like you can with MobileMe (or dropbox or any other cloud based storage service).

There is no folder structure specific to iCloud in OS X, but you can of course organize your files however you wish in the finder. As for iOS apps, I believe it's up to the developer how those files are presented--either a document gallery ala Pages, or in a hierarchical fashion with folders.

Yep. Which means the event is still atleast 2 weeks away!!

Not really, it will be before the 24th, that's the end of Apple's fiscal year and quarter. They indicated a major product transition would occur before this date. The 24th is a Saturday, so the event will be on the 23rd or before, so less than two weeks. :)

As a Non-Developer ...

I am really looking forward to the public release of 10.7.2 and iCloud and iOS 5. What are the current guesses? Mid-October, end-October, or first-October?

You developer's constant talk of bug fixes means later rather than sooner, or are you guys exaggerating?

Top 3 things I want to see in 10.7.2:

- Bug fixes
- Bug fixes
- Bug fixes

I'm very confident that Apple is working diligently so as to deliver bug fixes as soon as possible. From what I've observed so far, this is one of the better major point upgrades, from the standpoint of being well sorted.

Not exactly.

Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer indicated a product transition that would materially affect revenue this quarter (which in ends on the 24th). He did not state that there would be a product launch in this quarter.

Hence, a presumed iPhone release early next quarter might result in a slowdown of current iPhone sales and thus revenue. All of that would indeed materially affect Q4 results, even if there is no actual product announcement.

Plus Apple's manufacturing partners will probably need to ramp down production of current models to prepare for the next model's launch, again resulting in few units available for sale.

We have seen this many, many times before when current model ship times suddenly lengthen as Apple presumably ramps production to accumulate enough inventory for a new product launch.

With this release of 10.7.2, you can now transition your MobileMe account to iCloud...using your MobileMe account credentials. In fact, when you reboot after the installation process, you're prompted to do this. Worked like a charm!

And yes, the entire system is faster. Nice improvements!

1) does anyone know if iCloud functionality will be brought to the OS X versions of iWork? That's cool that it saves your work and everything, but that's pretty pointless without OS X integration, where most people will be doing their iWork work.

2) Safari appears to be my buggiest Lion app. Zooming isnt consistent at all.

3) Lion needs to get cool iOS stuff - AirPlay, Reminders integration, soon to be announced Assistant...

When you transition your mobileme account, what does your e-mail address become? blank@me.com still or blank@icloud.com? or both? And are you going to miss your iDisk storage with iCloud? I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my mobileme until it actually expires or if it doesn't make a difference.

Yes, you maintain your existing .mac/.me email addresses.

Even after you transition your MobileMe account to iCloud, you will be able to continue using MobileMe iDisk through June 30, 2012. After that time, I think it goes away although Apple has not stated exactly what happens after that date. I would certainly back up your MobileMe iDisk files prior to that end date.

Read this for more specific info: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html

What if I don't. I assume I can use mobileme u til mid 2012?

For some reason, after downloading this 10.7.2 Beta, it tells me i cant install it on any volume because it doesn't meet the system requirements. I have the latest MacBook Air i5 with the previous 10.7.2 Beta installed... anyone else having the same problem?

I updated to this because my wi-fi has been atrociously slow on my Mid-2010 MBP. (It's fine on the iMac though) It seems to have made a difference so far, though Lion overall still runs poorly on this machine.

I know some people who's iTunes library mainly consists of illegally downloaded mp3s. What happens, is such person subscribes to the cloud service? Is it all going to be replaced with hq versions or does apple send him the lawyer immediately?

Is this a serious question? Neither of those two, obviously. Do some shallow research and answer your own Q.

That's fine and dandy but the vast majority of those to iCloud. Apple listed graphics drivers as being a focus in 10.6.8 but there weren't actually any improvements on them.

I'm sitting on 10.7.2 and Safari 5.1.1 build 7534.51.21, ATI drivers been updated to 7.10.8, updates to Atheros drivers (On Mid-2011 iMac's), AppStore updated to 1.1.2, QuickTime updated to build 501.5 - they're only some of the things I've noticed.

Sorry, just because Steve Jobs hasn't visited you at home for a one on one interview on the changes in 10.7.2 doesn't mean it contains no bug fixes.

revert back to 1.7.1

I've fiddled around with 10.7.2 11C48 on my HackPro and it changed all the bluetooth libraries and kexts. A2DP Bluetooth seems to work now without KPs or disconnects.

Did you run the revisioner first before trying to apply the update?

You can also see everything that being stored in a long list on your iPhone/iPad. I am guessing over time iCloud will get better integration and more dropbox like functions. But for now it's really meant to be used inside apps only.

Do you know if icloud works with aperture?

Right now no, will it in the future that is up to Apple...

I think it would work via a apple id. Like FaceTime for the Mac. Imessage for iPad and iPod touch are based on apple id, and wifi. Apple can just as build a app for the Mac.

I think that would be a pretty cool idea. iMessage on Mac :)
